To make it worse, Flock’s data isn’t reliable. A new LAPD audit found 161 people were investigated in just two months because their cars were wrongly flagged as stolen. An inaccurate or outdated alert can turn an innocent driver into a suspect in a dangerous police encounter.

That violates state law and the Sanctuary City Ordinance I authored, which prohibits the use of city data, direct or indirect, for federal immigration enforcement. In ICE’s hands, this data becomes a tool for tracking and targeting immigrant communities.

We know now how that information can be abused. CalMatters found that LAPD searched license plate data on behalf of ICE and Customs and Border Protection.

Unlike traditional traffic cameras, Flock cameras record every vehicle’s license plate, location, date and time, and capture images of the people in and around them. Flock uploads that data to a private nationwide network that federal immigration agencies have repeatedly accessed.

(The stronger view is full mass prosecutions of every bit of shit they did remotely illegal along with lifetime blackballing every CPB/ICE office names from ever joining ANY LEO from fed down to local PDs ever ever again.)

It's hard enough to find people once ice gets them, the people with nobody looking for them are just fucking gone. It's going to be like after WWII when citizens had to be walked through the death camps and refused to believe it was real, the few reports from detention centers are horrific.

And if when they're ON camera, they shoot people dead, who knows what these asshats do when they're not on camera.
