More Perfect Union@moreperfectunion.bsky.social · 2y agoAmazon employees around the world are demonstrating between Black Friday and Cyber Monday to call for improved wages and working conditions, including unionization rights. Workers are striking in 20 countries including the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, Brazil, and India.
Democrats seem to have forgotten how to talk to the working class. You know who might have helped? Cori Bush, who was a nurse before she got to Congress, and Jamaal Bowman who was a principal. Sadly, establishment Dems let the pro-apartheid lobby group AIPAC spend millions to throw them out.
The rent is too damn high. Part of my speech in DC urging Biden to champion bold policy that centers both people and planet. Clearly, the Democratic Party didn't listen and here we are.

Solidarity with immigrants in the Global South doesn't just mean protecting them for deportations here. It means protecting their families, who live all over the world, from the ravages of climate breakdown and green colonialism. We can't build that global politics of green solidarity in secret.
Climate is a completely malleable issue. There are horrible, wealthy plutocrats who talk about net zero. And there are Filipina social movements demanding that the rich world decarbonize. The "climate movement" isn't an objective thing. In different times & places, the words mean different things.
