I'd like some acknowledgement that there's serious cognitive dissonance between fanboying cb (who is on bail for another assault currently), and the charitable causes they've supported, and their own music. If they don't care, I need to know that, so I know who I'm dealing with.

i just think seeing someone get upset that namseok went out of their way to support chris brown and going ‘well, you should have known better than to hope they wouldn’t support him’ absolutely reeks of misogyny and victim blaming
i keep seeing people saying ‘well what did you expect’ and ‘this is why you need to remember the difference between person and persona’ and ‘actually you’ll always be disappointed by ur fave’ and like, idk if being smug because you’ve reached some enlightened state of fandom is helpful or kind rn
my take is: this isn't a sign they condone abuse, but it does display how abuse is not front of mind for them. i don't think his actions came to mind at all when they decided to go to the concert and THAT is the problem. men like brown should not be allowed a public life.
Fandom without critical thinking and social awareness is just a cult. No one should be given a blank cheque to engage in ethically dubious behaviour just because they make good music.
