My cat Otto periodically gets obsessed with random objects and plays with them, carries them around in his mouth, and brings them to my bed to sleep with. The random object of the last week has been: a pipe cleaner

That is to say, the Christian Nationalist worships a god who revels in and calls just the shedding of innocent, but alien, blood; their only hope is to be protected *from* this god even as they emulate him

The move toward rampant Arianism in the nascent public face of Christian nationalism should have been a huge tell about how they worship a different god, and not just because of the subordinationism: theirs is a God who lusted for Christ’s blood; ours is one who willingly sacrificed Godself.

can't stand performative love of JSTOR on social media: "I miss having access to JSTOR," photos of JSTOR tattoos, etc. JSTOR has Aaron Swartz's blood on their hands!!

me: the problem with my fellow Americans is that all of them think the rules don't apply to them 😌 me getting pulled over for turning left out of a small town McDonald's parking lot immediately after reading the sign that said NO LEFT TURN OUT OF PARKING LOT: I didn't think the rule applied to me 😔

Preaching on the parable of the sheep and goats for a funeral tomorrow, and I am enormously moved thinking about how Jesus refuses our conception of greatness as wealth, power, and status and insists that what matters to God is our care for the people that conception leads us to discard as worthless

I've picked Mason and Dixon back up after reading the first ~150 pages in the fall/winter, then putting it down for several months, and I am very grateful to my past self for the level of detail in the notes that are getting me back up to speed
