I think I agree with the end comment that it will probably feel a lot better once we're actually playing the game. We may not end up deciding the style is good, but it won't necessarily be so off-putting once we're acclimated to it. Me... I find myself hating it less as I keep looking at it.

Western anime fans tend to have a very simplistic gender understanding of anime/manga, failing to comprehend that Japanese women may enjoy ecchi, how a sizable portion of hentai mangaka are women, etc
