Matz is opening EuRuKo 2026 – and he's not coming alone. Meet Benoit Daloze (Datadog, CRuby committer) and Satoshi Tagomori (Ruby committer), part of a lineup that's already live. 📍 Brno · Sep 17–18 2026.euruko.org#speakers #EuRuKo2026 #Ruby
like clockwork, this guy can’t go one month without dropping an insanely racist anti-immigration rant (bonus: the dog whistle of using the R-slur in the year of our lord 2026)
Three sacred cows that must die so Europe can live
The decline of Europe is not inevitable, despite how much Americans love to joke/proclaim that the continent is doomed to become an open-air museum. Sure, it's possible that things have to get worse before they get better, but believing that "it's over" is just loser talk. It's never over, but the old world also won't recover by itself...

Speaking at the SF Ruby Startup Conference: Rosa Gutiérrez (@rosa.codes)! You may know her from her work at 37signals or as the creator of Solid Queue. She loves puzzles, theoretical CS, and her pup: Mochi. Get early bird tickets for the conf and see her on stage: luma.com/sfrubyconf2026

My favorite talk of #BrightonRuby2026 so far is without hesitation @rhannequin.bsky.social’s. Super interesting and really well presented.

Last weekend we had an amazing time at RubyConf Austria - inspiring Ruby talks, the spirit of classical Vienna, and wonderful people all around. Thank you to everyone who made it so memorable. We came home with great memories and inspiration for wroclove.rb 2027! Stay tuned ⭐
Ruby 4.0 warning: it looks like a GC change in 4.0 means Sidekiq may leak memory on every job failure. v8.1.6 will be released tomorrow with a workaround. https://github.com/sidekiq/sidekiq/issues/7006
Possible thread/memory leak · Issue #7006 · sidekiq/sidekiq
When a Sidekiq job fails, Sidekiq creates a retry in Redis but it also throws away the entire Processor object and Thread to ensure all jobs execute with "known good state". A Customer reports memo...

Kyoto 06:30 AM - I was walking to the hotel after my running session. I opened my email and I read “🙌 Welcome back, AWS Community Builder!” My voice broken the silence “YEEEEEEAAAAAHHH!” and after I was speechless for a lot of minutes! Thanks #aws and #awscommunity for this opportunity!
@rubyconitaly.bsky.social was not only a conference. It was an unexpected moment for me. I did a lightning talk in English. 4 minutes. It was my first experience and probably the last. I am still in shock. Have you ever done a talk in a second language? 🎤 #rubycon #lightningtalk #aws #terraform
We had an amazing time at @rubyconitaly.bsky.social last weekend! Great talks, great people, and such a beautiful city. Thanks to everyone we met and big shoutout to the organizers for an amazing first edition - already looking forward to next year 🙌
Sadly, Bernard Banta won't make it to Balkan this year, but we're happy to have Carmine Paolino cover for him! Carmine is the co-founder of www.freshflow.ai. He's also the author of your favorite RubyLLM library. His take is that "Ruby Is the Best Language for Building Al Web Apps", and we agree!
Great morning of talks, a proper Italian lunch, and now we're back in the room for lightning talks. The afternoon is on. #Rubycon2026 #Ruby
Rubycon 2026 is live from Rimini. Room packed, first talks underway, and the energy is something else. A few stolen shots from this morning. #Rubycon2026 #Ruby
@rubyconitaly.bsky.social started great 🥹❤️ Two fantastic initial talks by @paolino.me and @julialopez.dev, comfy chairs, comfy laps to visit and lay on 😆
Really exciting to see Herb being adopted at GitHub! 🌿 Over the past months, the GitHub team has been running Herb across one of the largest Rails codebases out there where Herb helped uncover real issues missed by existing tooling while also providing invaluable feedback. 🙌
“[A11y] is that easy, if we do it right.” @julialopez.dev nailing it at #rubycon.
Great talk on RubyLLM by @paolino.me at #rubycon. I’m impressed by the work out into RubyLLM, but more importantly, by the care for and focus the API and developer happiness. This is the love and smarts I love Ruby for.
On my way to Rimini 🚆 with Mochi for @rubyconitaly.bsky.social after the best few days working from Ferrara 🇮🇹❤️ I had read it was one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in Italy and had wanted to visit since! Loved it. Barely any tourists, spoke only Italian, cute dogs everywhere.
