Do govt bans on social media actually help youth? Probably not. Worse, they basically advertise social media as "cool" just when teens are over it. Do teens who want to access these services find ways around it? You betcha. Here are a few thoughts: www.technologyreview.com/2026/10/16/1...

Kids are outsmarting social media bans. That’s not a problem we need to solve.

Age gates can be staggeringly counterproductive, pushing kids to darker corners of the web. Closing loopholes will only make things worse.

This is not about diesel prices at all, this is about forcing Ukraine to take responsibility for things we actually have nothing to do with to gain points for the midterms, and about making Ukraine bow to look strong at our expense.

Social media bans are easy to explain and politically attractive, writes John Perrino of the Internet Society. He argues that implementing them has proven far more difficult, and that global policy trends show a more direct focus on safety by design.

The World’s Growing Patchwork of Age Bans and What It Reveals

Age bans are easy to explain and politically attractive, but implementing them, however, has proven far more difficult and controversial, writes John Perrino.

Estonian PM Kristen Michal on Trump's deal with Russia: "Estonia and the European Council should discuss next week whether we can quickly increase our support for Ukraine so that Ukrainian forces can blow up all Russian oil refineries to pieces."

See on suur valearvestus, sest diktaatoritega lepped on tee põrgusse. Gaasi- ja kütuseraha eest tapetakse süütuid inimesi. Ning mis väga tõenäoline, ei tule seda loodetud kütust.
Taoline kokkulepe on vastassuunaline läänemaailma pikaajalise tegevusega piirata energiakandjate rahavoolu Putinile, USA on seni veennud oma liitlasi vene kûtusest loobuma, meie samuti.

This is a major miscalculation, because making deals with dictators is the road to hell. Innocent people are being killed with money from gas and fuel sales. And, very likely, the promised fuel will never arrive.

Such an agreement runs directly counter to the Western world's longstanding efforts to restrict the flow of energy revenues to Putin. Until now, the United States has persuaded its allies to abandon Russian fuel, and we have done the same. The longstanding policy of depriving Russia of revenue is the right one and must continue.

Estonia and the European Council should discuss next week whether we can quickly increase our support for Ukraine so that Ukrainian forces can blow Russian oil refineries to pieces.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT): “U.S. government is currently a state sponsor of terrorism. I understand that sounds political and hyperbolic, but it is factually true. Russia is deliberately carrying out large-scale strikes against civilians in Ukraine, while Trump is deliberately funding its actions.”

Live facial recognition. A waste of time. Waste of money. And, crucially, lays waste to our rights. For the supposed golden goose of digital policing to spit out one (false positive) match is an indictment of this invasive tech. Tech and surveillance aren't the solution to complex social problems.
