This week in Missouri national politics: - Sen Josh Hawley is a disingenuous asshole in a Senate committee hearing - Sen. Eric Schmitt gets dragged by the menswear guy for being a poser. - Missouri House Republicans profess their love for taxing consumers

A lot of people are asking very good questions about the age for starting colorectal cancer screening. These guidelines are set by the United States Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF), which had 2 out of 3 of their meetings cancelled in 2025 by RFK Jr. He also wants to fire every member.

As Kansas’ top election official, Kris Kobach drafted a resolution that sharply opposed federal influence on voting. That was 2013. As Trump pushes to "nationalize" elections, the draft resolution has taken on new scrutiny. w/ @bymatthewkelly.bsky.social. www.kansascity.com/news/politic...

Kansas Republican staunchly opposed nationalized voting. Does he back Trump now?

He literally says in this clip that ICE will keep in Minnesota “quick reaction forces” — a military term — to go after “agitators.” Remember that those on the ground in MPLS have spent more than a week trying to tell everyone that Trump’s prior “deescalation” was a ruse and ICE is still operational

Homan: "Operation Metro Surge is ending. In the next week, we're going to deploy the officers here on detail back to their home stations or to other areas of the country where they're needed."

This whole thread. On how ICE and DHS are ignoring orders to release ppl, moving them to Texas to get favorable judges, and holding them—including young children—in absolutely inhumane conditions. It’s so clear that neither ICE nor DHS are compatible w the rule of law and must be dismantled.

I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it. I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.” 1/

So the confrontations, violent apprehensions, and general fear bearing down on communities like Minnesota is only the beginning of the nightmare. Behind the scenes, Orwellian anti-judicial antics thwart lawful recourse. And hidden from sight, non-citizens are tortured for being noncitizens. 29/

I had two clients moved within an hour of ICE learning we were looking for them and advising us there was not plan to move them. A family of four moved 36 hours after a court order forbidding them from being moved. 3 other clients moved within a day of court-ordered injunctions. 20/

And even when we move at warp speed and outpace this regime, DHS doesn’t care. They’ve moved people to Texas hours or days after being enjoined. When ordered to return them, DHS just… doesn’t. The AUSAs let them: when we notify them of a violation, they send the email equivalent of a shrug. 19/

Meanwhile, DHS shows its contempt for the judiciary in a different way. In dozens, likely now thousands, of cases, DHS openly defies court orders. Minnesota courts enter orders forbidding ICE from moving noncitizens who’ve filed habeas petitions out of Minnesota. They move them anyway. 16/

I was in the cities today and I counted 20 drones on my way home. Including one that literally will not leave Northfield’s airspace. If you are out of state you do not understand what the fuck is actually going on here. Finding cars smashed into, stranded in the middle of the streets.

How the hell am I supposed to sleep knowing that Kristi Noem has access to a laser weapon. The fact that it‘s on loan from Pete ‘day-drinking’ Hegseth doesn’t help the situation.

Groups like the Brownstone Institute have been pushing to get mRNA technology banned. The FDA commissioner is an ally of Brownstone. The director of CBER is an ally of Brownstone. The director of CDER is an ally of Brownstone. For those keeping tabs.

Like 75% of the US Olympic curlers are from Minnesota. A lot of them curl out of two clubs in Saint Paul, one club is in Frogtown, a neighborhood that has been very heavily targeted by ICE. These curlers are good neighbors.

FactPost@factpostnews.bsky.social · 8mo ago

US Olympic Curling Team member speaks out against ICE: "I'm proud to represent Team USA. But we'd be remiss if we didn't mention what's going on in Minnesota and what a tough time it's been. What's happening is wrong. There's no shades of gray."

mRNA vaccines are faster to produce so strains selected to be included in the seasonal vaccine can be chosen closer to the start of flu season. They also don’t rely on eggs which is important if you’re letting a bird flu rip through your country.

Philip Bump@pbump.com · 8mo ago

So the feds ARE NOT considering an mRNA vaccine for the flu, which could save countless lives, but ARE backing research into whether horse dewormer can cure cancer, because the right views vaccines as elite and ivermectin as populist. Cool. kffhealthnews.org/news/article...

We know the names of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. But 6 others were killed by ICE or died in their custody this year: Luis Gustavo Núñez Cáceres, Geraldo Lunas Campos, Víctor Manuel Díaz, Parady La, Luis Beltrán Yáñez–Cruz, and Heber Sánchez Domínguez. They deserve justice.

Eight people have died in dealings with ICE so far in 2026. These are their stories

The high-profile killings of Minneapolis residents Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good are only two among many

On MSNow, a legal correspondent brought up the fact that the DOJ is charging Don Lemon with conspiracy under the FACE Act. I hope anti-abortion groups who send their protestors to abortion clinics are paying attention. The pendulum will swing.

Rev Al Sharpton (paraphrase) When you can’t convince them morally, you convince them economically. Blue cities are often the economic engines of red states. Just saying.

I watched Homan interviews both during the campaign and after. I suspect, to him, a “criminal nexus” means just being here without documentation which is a civil offense. Media should really get clarification because I bet the public definition and DHS’s definition are not the same.

UPDATED MINNESOTA ICE GUIDANCE: “All targets must be have a criminal Nexus” So… that wasn’t the case up until now? Is this not an admission of guilt? 🤷🏼 www.reuters.com/world/ice-of...
