The details are a little fuzzy, but I think what happened is even funnier: The call was *hosted* by the White House Faith Office and *posted* by a religious activist group, which once again affirms that the people in charge of the government right now are some of the stupidest motherfuckers alive
"Off the record" is an agreement between a journalist and a source, and the agreement must take place BEFORE the disclosure of "off the record" information. You can't unilaterally assert it, and it isn't retroactive. You also definitely can't assert it once you, uh, post it on YouTube.

This kind of turnout suggests major Democratic activation in the state. Across the board, Dems are going to have tailwinds heading into 2026. Anti-Trump backlash has been the big driver of Democratic wins in the last decade after losing so much ground during the Obama years. El-Sayed can win.

We knew license plate readers, PredPol, and “targeted enforcement” were used to effectively occupy particular communities with constant surveillance and harass anyone who left/lived there. We added capacity anyway.
Instead of taking on the power of policing directly we keep reaching for clever workarounds that are then used by the police to concentrate more power.
The technological solution to racist policing being abused by the police until it becomes publicly untenable is a particular type of dark irony.
