Seconded. My job is speaking in public about violence prevention & I wear a mask at events, only removing it once I'm on stage beside a HEPA filter. People visibly recoil at my masking & it takes me mere mins of chatting with them to figure out it's 100% because it triggers their 2020 trauma.

Serious question #BikeHfx: how are cyclists meant to use the new stop signs & lines mid-Donham diverter on Allan? When I stop at the 1st 🛑, does that only get me as far as the middle of the diverter? By the time I get to the 2nd 🛑, the driver who arrived after me can go first?! Make it make sense?

Replaced one of our cars with a cargo bike over a month ago. Despite the heatwave and the terrible drivers here, the car hasn’t moved ever since and we’ve done trips that we would have never considered before. A cargo bike not only replaces your car, it makes all trips fun and creates opportunities.

Anyway, this is a great reminder that e-bikes are an incredibly powerful tool for replacing car trips. People aren't going from acoustic to e-bike, they're going from car to e-bike.

This is easier said than done, in my experience. As a woman, I have been taught to not take up space. As a cyclist, I’ve been taught I don’t deserve anything. Drivers bully me and make me ride closer to parked cars than I’d like. Taking the lane is good, but it’s not the solution.

And you can only push people so far, cut and demolish so many necessities to living, before people have nothing left to lose and make their anger impossible to ignore.

Any other #HaliSky locals noticed these diamond-shaped markings around town? I’ve seen the white ones in three different locations now, all seemingly on CN Rail property (sidewalks on/under rail bridges). The green ones are in an HRM park, relatively near the rail line too though.
