You know when you’re frustrated by something and feel like the people who created it must be idiots, and then you realize why it’s like that and feel a bit humbled? What if some people never have that second part

Can’t get this story out of my head. The delays aren’t unusual, the cost comes out at $100k per unit or ~$400/month rent for those non-market homes. Same issues come up for market housing, developers could keep building at lower rents if munis did not impose those delays and uncertainty.

Another window into why even non-profit housing is so expensive. Saanich delays led to an extra $9milliom (!!) in costs. No one in Saanich is held accountable so they keep dragging their feet and increasing costs. bcbusiness.ca/real-estate/...

Ontario rail operators: "we don't need double-track, thanks to strategic passing sidings and the magic of ✨️scheduling✨️" Also Ontario rail operators: "we arrived at the passing siding 5 minutes late, so we will have to wait here for 20 extra minutes while we wait for opposing traffic"

Fun fact: If you have good punctuality and timetable discipline, you can run pretty frequently as single track with timed overtakes. The Swiss do this a lot, the Zurich S10 runs up to every 10 minutes with single track with passing tracks and strict punctuality.

Me: The new agent harness is great. You feed your tokens into the machine. Then you run simulations which, if successful, produces tickets. If they fail you have to buy more tokens and keep running the sims. Once you have enough tickets you can redeem them Boss: are you at dave & busters, yes or no

It’s great we have some weekend trains now but we should have the Kitchener line double tracked so these trains can go back and forth between Kitchener and Toronto all day long every hour including weekends and holidays

my neighborhood 7-11 closed a couple years ago and tried to reopen but couldn’t get the permit approved because there’s a preschool next door and 7-11s sell alcohol (the previous permit was grandfathered in). i saw a fence going up around the lot recently and looked up what was moving in: a gun shop

It may be years until I get used to being able to create a custom app for a niche use case about as easily as I can figure out what I actually want, and to get new or improved functionality quickly enough to be able to use it immediately
