And what about the layoffs of executives and CEOs who repeatedly ignore their workers and drive their companies into ruin, when do those happen? 🤔
6 game cancellations will mean many jobs lost in an already horrific market. Ubisoft cancelling 3 new IPs is especially heartbreaking: people are literally clamoring for something new instead of sequels on sequels. The workers at Ubisoft deserve better than this.
Ubisoft cancels Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake "discontinued 6 games that do not meet the new enhanced quality as well as more selective portfolio prioritization criteria at Group level. These include [PoP] remake as well as 4 unannounced titles, including 3 new IP’s, and a mobile title"
I remember getting yelled at when I called out Clair Obscur for using the slop generators earlier this year. "It was a rogue asset", "It was a contractor", and so on. Welp, here's the goddamn producer saying they use them.
NEW from me on @gamedeveloper.bsky.social: I wasn’t going to write about the Larian AI backlash. Then I woke up at 5:30 this morning with a whole dang blog in my head. How can you know if your workers are “okay” with using genAI tools if you have so much power over them should they push back?
Dev backlash over Larian CEO's genAI praise is about leadership, not just tech
Can we have some good news for just one day? Please
NEW: For the last seven weeks, Naughty Dog has enacted mandatory overtime for staff to finish an internal demo of their next game, Intergalactic. The game won't be out until 2027, leaving some staff wondering: If they're crunching now, what will next year be like? www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
sigh
NEW: I spoke to Larian boss Swen Vincke about their ambitions for their new RPG Divinity, cutting down development time, pressures from Baldur's Gate 3, why BG3 wouldn't have happened without Tencent, how Larian uses generative AI, and much more www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...
I'm the only one having performance issues with Blender 5.0? Everything runned smoothly and cool before I updated, now it's constant crashes and freezes :(
My art advice will always be "get a reference image and just do your best" because these awkward angles aren't easy to draw 🖤 #Frieren
¡Encantadísimo de que hayamos currado juntos, aunque sea en campos distintos! xD ¡Ojalá muchos más!
Happy Pew pew pew 7 release day! Hope you guys enjoy playing it at least as much as we enjoyed making it💜
Greta Thunberg: "I could talk for a very, very long time about our mistreatment and abuses in our imprisonment. Trust me. But that is not the story. What happened here was Israel… continuing to worsen and escalate their genocide and mass destruction with genocidal intent, attempting to erase an...
What an utterly dogshit rebrand. Take something unique, characterful and distinctive and make it look like every other bland corporate unbrand out there.
Hemos pasado de decir que los artistas son unos muertos de hambre y unos hippies, a llamarles pijos privilegiados para justificar el robo masivo de su experiencia y trabajo para alimentar a una empresa que se está cargando el planeta.
At what point did I think getting into the video game industry was a good idea
Let's be 100% clear on this, Microsoft is investing $80 Billion in AI. This is not conjecture or speculation, it is plainly in their own words back in January this year, they gutted a profitable games division because AI is the new shiny bauble. blogs.microsoft.com/on-the-issue...
Just repeating it because some are repeating Microsoft's lies unquestioningly about them having to cut people to save money, etc. Their gaming division was 26 *billion* USD in the black. They had just posted record revenue. They were swimming in money. But Microsoft wants to invest *80bn* in AI.
I think I'm starting to get the hang of unreal blueprints, I'm actually starting to enjoy the process😌✨
While much of the MMO world in 2005 was still gushing over the recent launch of World of Warcraft, Guild Wars was charting its own course with an initial launch that set itself apart through a dynamic skill system, exciting combat, and expansive world. Happy 20th anniversary!
