Saw Spider-Man Brand New Day tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Felt like a throwback to the kind of effortlessly charming and entertaining movie that defined the golden era of the MCU. Excited to check it out again this weekend.

The Odyssey being a massive phenomenon in the face of alt-Right bigotry AND the Tate Brothers getting arrested in the same weekend? Kinda feels like the tide’s changing, eh?
Beautifully said and seconded. BJ is a true fighter, a hell of a writer, and a personal favorite podcast guest. Any help you can throw her way will result in triple good karma coming back at you.
Freelance life is a struggle. Making a living doing any of (waves arms around) THIS is insane. Doing it while constantly dealing with the surprising side effects of surviving cancer? Takes a stronger person than me. That’s who BJ Colangelo is. But she needs help. Can you help? gofund.me/120701466
Does this newly announced Magic art look like one of those collectible plates that your grandmother would buy you for Christmas in the early ‘90s? Yes. Am I excited about being able to finally afford a Sheoldred the Apocalypse for my deathtouch deck? Also yes.
This was harder than you’d think. Where does your favorite Dante flick end up in our Top 7? Just gonna have to listen and find out!

Shout out to the family that brought their 6 & 4 year olds to the promo screening of a very loud, 2.5 hour mythological drama. The kids reacted the way you’d think: Laughing at the wrong places, screaming randomly, singing little songs. Just as Christopher Nolan intended.
Just heard that Sam Neill passed away. Whether playing the devil incarnate or a nerdy fossil hunter he always brought real humanity to his characters. I have a particular fondness for his genre work and will miss his presence onscreen.

I’ve already had to smack three children who walked by this and said “Look, it’s Hopper’s car from Stranger Things.”
Pulled a great chase card from the Marvel Magic the Gathering set while vacationing in Orlando, so forgive the brag but cool card needs to be shown off. Car pull luck!

I’ve been dipping my toe into Magic the Gathering over the last year and half. Some observations: Deck building is incredibly addictive and probably even more fun than actually playing the deck. Commander is such a great social activity. MTG fandom is the absolute worst.
A big thank you to Keaton Patterson for organizing a kickass panel for tonight’s Bleak Week screening of PET SEMATARY. We were joined by @comptonwrites.bsky.social, @bevvincent.bsky.social, @claymcleod.bsky.social and @ericvespe.bsky.social for a fantastic discussion of all things Stephen King.
In Houston repping The Kingcast with some cool cats (Bev Vincent, @claymcleod.bsky.social, and Johnny Compton) for a post-screening conversation of @marylambert.bsky.social’s adaptation of Pet Sematary! #sometimesdeadisbettah
From its opening moments Disclosure Day reminds you that nobody can instantly put you in the middle of a story like Steven Spielberg. Flick is fun, moves quickly, isn’t afraid to be weird, and has some logic issues I’m still grappling with, but ultimately an easy recommend.
Our quest to get all notable Stephens on The Kingcast just got one step closer to the finish line. Stephen Root rules and he's on the show this week to talk about King, Widow's Bay, Mike Judge, George A. Romero, and 11/22/63. Episode is live now, tiny taste below:
This is the day Wampler and I huffed and puffed around San Francisco to visit Zodiac murder sites. Scott hated this picture, but since he’s not here anymore I’ve decided to post it every year on his deathday. The world’s still a shittier place without you in it, buddy.
Heads up: next week on The Kingcast we welcome a new Stephen to the show.

Last day to get in on this goodness. Just you wait to see what @mereborders.bsky.social and crew have put together for this release.
The Kickstarter may be closing May 8, but this is far from the last update you’ll receive on FIRST IN FRIGHT: The FANGORIA Compendium. Last chance to secure your copy.
How about a little detour this week? Writer Jeremy Slater takes a break from plugging Mortal Kombat II to talk about Joe Hill's epic horror tome KING SORROW. Evil dragons, complex characters, a killer sequence on an airplane, and ample nods to Hill's writer family. What's not to love?
Surprising absolutely no one, Widow’s Bay is extremely my shit. What if Stephen King’s Castle Rock and Jaws’s Amity Island combined together with a bevy of great character actors populating it? More of this please and thank you.
I’m fairly new to MTG nerdom, but dedicated enough to go to my first Magicon. I’ll be wandering around, seeing some panels, hunting for some singles, and have some commander decks on hand to play some games this weekend. Had to bring out my mono red pride and joy…
As part of The Summer of Stephen King series, River Oaks Theatre will show PET SEMATARY on June 10 at 6 pm, followed by a discussion with @ericvespe.bsky.social, @claymcleod.bsky.social, @comptonwrites.bsky.social and me. The panel will be moderated by Brazons Bookstore's Keaton Patterson.

William Sadler is our guest on The Kingcast this week and we talk about a ton of his King work, from Shawshank to The Mist. Here's a tiny taste of wha the had to say about The Shawshank Redemption:
Me and @drewmcweeny.com are on our bullshit again. This one’s a favorite of mine and has a very interesting development story that we dive into on this commentary. Now chant it with me: “Satan is good. Satan is our pal.”
