you don't need a bunch of cops to do this. you do need political leadership that takes this violence seriously as a quality of life concerned for the residents rather than as a way to score points with racists

right, and just to be clear about what i mean here, "policing" does not mean, "flooding the neighborhood with cops." it means, "taking violence seriously and building the constructive relationships necessary to address it and stop violent offenders." like what we've seen in baltimore, for example.
