ICE and/or police murdered someone this morning in Biddeford, Maine. From the statements I’ve seen from local activists, I *think* the victim was a young Black man. You may already know Black immigrants are the largest non-white immigrant demo in Maine. A protest is already under way.

Sarah Lazare@sarahlazare.bsky.social · 10mo agoIt’s hard to convey just how much Chicagoans are mobilizing against ICE. Don’t want to downplay the harm, or make it seem like a fair fight. But in neighborhoods across this city, ICE is getting chased by people blowing whistles and shouting. People are running TOWARD ICE to protect their neighbors.
The AWS outage today is a good reminder that there is no "cloud", there's just somebody else's computer.
My annual reminder to students that you want a letter of recommendation from someone that can speak to your work and your work ethic in detail. Get to know your professors before you need a letter, and ask the professors that have commented on your work. Office hours are ideal for this.
