"if there is a permanent underclass, you won’t escape it by owning property, or shares in Anthropic or OpenAI, or guns, or anything else. And neither will the billionaires" borretti.me/article/no-o...

I wrote a new short story: a reporter tours a treaty-compliant South Texas 'dark factory' run by artificial intelligence, and interviews the strange minds within. vgel.me/fiction/comi...
Thinking about this Pat Rawlings art - entitled ‘Starwell’ - of a big robot-assembled telescope at the south pole of the Moon, down on the floor of Shackleton Crater where the sun never rises… cool vibes.

Looking for a new desk and all the Google results that are not established brands are scam companies with AI-generated images. Grim.
one thing that I hate about ADHD is that I need to be hyper interested, extremely stressed, etc. to really get into something. no gears beyond locked in or kinda listless. this isn't a quirk chungus so wacky thing, it's a character flaw that makes my life worse.

Maybe I'm letting the Internet get to me too much, but I get genuinely angry now when I encounter AI slop. It is maddening.
there’s three paths: ASI never happens and we muddle along, we build a pro-human future that is friendly to all of us, or we lose. there’s no special pleading based on how many zeros you accumulate in your bank account in the lead-up to the singularity. no special future which is pro-wealthy.
many seem to be reading this essay as a statement that AI *will* take all our jobs and kill everyone, rather than a *response* to the idea that *if* AI does develop the ability to take all our jobs and kill everyone, owning some shares in OpenAI will mean that you get to pick who gets killed.
this has been a bunch of work between @eudoxia.bsky.social @ctrlcreep.bsky.social and myself, but we're closing in on a release. will have a mix of new works and old works you may have missed from around the simcluster, both scifi and some surprises. more updates @permutation.ink, pls follow there!

New post: superintelligent AI won't just lead to a "permanent underclass" but to the disempowerment of all humans. borretti.me/article/no-o...
Why are the Pioneer probes so much less popular than the Voyager probes?
Most of my blog posts start with me talking to myself about some shit while pacing my room. Turn autism into prose.
