Second hand September ! Always a good idea to recycle and reuse things! And you never know what you might find in a charity shop. It's one of the best places to look for eg an unusual flower vase (personal experience!) and great book choices too www.cravenherald.co.uk/news/2651870...

Somehow it is 8 years today since we posted this Twitter thread, about a very, VERY old document from our Archive. Now it's another year older and we're still keeping it safe. It was written 624 years ago. No really. Archives are amazing. 👇
In one of our archive strong rooms there is a shelf. The shelf does not contain the most exciting or interesting item in the archive but it does contain something amazing. Read this short thread to find out more. 🧵👇

Canada joining the EU? What once sounded like a fringe idea has entered mainstream debate, as Trump’s trade war pushes Canadians to rethink their relationship with the US. Canada is having the debate. When will the UK? www.newyorker.com/news/global-...
What If Canada Joined the E.U.?

I bought the game "Hnefatafl" (viking chess) from the Lofotr Viking Museum on Lofoten, Norway a few years ago The king sits in the middle of the board, guarded by white pawns. The objective is for the king to reach one of the 4 corners. The opposing player's objective is to capture the king.

Great stuff ! I enjoyed watching The Six Million Dollar code - not exactly about gaming at all but about the German programmers of another very interesting computer programme - no spoilers here but it's worth a watch !
🎮 Cologne is hosting Gamescom, the world's biggest gaming convention with more than 1,700 exhibitors attending. Germany is the largest games market in Europe and the fifth-largest worldwide, with approximately 900 companies in the German games industry.
That is a great idea - thank you to all who help us
Seen in Edinburgh today, this 'cycle response unit' operated by the ambulance service- a good example of the many things you can do with a bike! (I was told it was particularly useful during the Edinburgh Festival).
37 years ago, two million people joined hands across Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in a fearless demand for freedom from Soviet occupation: the Baltic Way. 🇪🇪🤝🇱🇻🤝🇱🇹 A main walkway in the EP building in Brussels is named in honour of the event.
I much prefer doing my research amidst the flickering lanterns of an old-fashioned library in Prague during a raging thunderstorm with the help of a library ghost, so no, I'm afraid I have no interest in "asking ChatGPT."
