Record ridership at Mt. Vernon Sq! Metro moved thousands of customers to the Otakon convention last weekend. Saturday was the 2nd busiest day since 2020, and there were over 30,000 extra trips from Friday to Sunday. Wherever the fun is, Metro’s part of the journey. ✨

Text on a light purple background reads: "The 2nd busiest day since 2020 at Mt. Vernon Sq. 23.6k rail trips on Saturday." The Metro logo is in the top right corner. A white cartoon cat peeks from the bottom right, with small lines indicating excitement.

I'm at anime background artist Kazuki Higashiji's panel at Otakon. He begins with a statement in English. He doesn't see backgrounds as pretty scenery, but creating the world itself. He doesn't just make objects but thinks about the history of the place. Makes the world more believable.

Maki Terashima-Furuta from Production I.G USA says "I know a lot of you didn't like FLCL Progressive and Alternative but... well, we did it anyway"

I'm at the Trigger panel at Otakon! Guests: animator/Edgerunners 2 ED dir Kazuki Chiba, Edgerunners 2 char designer and animation dir Ichigo Kanno, creative producer Hiromi Wakabayashi, and PR/YouTube channel host Kawa-D. As usual, stay tuned in this thread for news and interesting quotes.

Less than an hour until our industry panel at Otakon! We'll be giving away buttons, stickers, print editions of Hikaru in the Light and Mecha-Ude, AND an Omoi tote bag. And of course, a big licensing announcement 😎 See you at 2pm!

I've got a HUGE license announcement lined up for Otakon. Looking forward to seeing the reaction because it's something people have been requesting for a while

I enjoyed the Odyssey well enough as spectacle and thought the way it brought together the sack of Troy with Odysseus's own doubts at the end worked well. But I'm a Nolan hater. I don't think he's made a single movie that I straight-up loved. He's a dumb guy's smart guy.

Few things make me feel as proud to live in New York as taking a short walk in my neighborhood and hearing four different languages spoken

You used to be able to bypass all of Reddit's login and app upsell walls on mobile by visiting old.reddit.com instead, but now new Reddit AND old Reddit both force you to log in to read on mobile. OK guys, I guess I'll just stop reading Reddit threads on my phone then?

New Ghost in the Shell might be more blobby and zany than the original manga, but they accurately captured the feeling of Shirow dumping a bunch of political and techno babble on you at key moments while you try to decipher who's lying to who and about what. It even has on-screen footnotes!
