Transportation without representation. The joys and pains of biking in DC and beyond. All skeets are my own and do not represent the views any campaign, office, or organization!

a lot of chutzpah for a restaurant that opened THIS YEAR to claim that they need to have a 3% service charge due to increased costs associated with I-82 like....did you not research current minimum wage when you first set your menu prices [checks notes] two months ago?

Close up of a small block of text on a restaurant menu which reads: "Service Charge Notice: A 3% surcharge is included on all guest checks to help offset increased labor costs due to Initiative 82. This charge is not a gratuity paid to staff. We appreciate your understanding!"

still pretty mad at @mayorbowser.dc.gov and DDOT Director Kershbaum for being so eager to make streateries all but illegal. It was a very bad decision that is making our neighborhoods actively worse places to live and visit.

The Purple Patch streatery, the last one remaining on Mount Pleasant Street, is coming down. The new DC rules and fees have just about wiped out expanded outdoor dining across Ward 1. www.popville.com/2026/07/purp...

my proposal for RFK stadium transit: Everyone who wants to drive simply goes to a large offsite parking lot somewhere near, let's say, landover MD. They can tailgate there if they want to. Then a series of shuttle buses takes them to RFK for the game, and back to their cars afterwards!

D.C. is putting $300 million towards expanding the Stadium Armory station, which Clarke says is needed. But he adds, "There isn’t a lot of time. August 2030 is around the corner for us." Work will have to be done as regular service continues as the station.

It's impossible for me to escape the conclusion that if, for some reason, donald trump decided to cancel student debt in the exact way that joe biden did, the Supreme Court would absolutely find a justification to allow him to do it

Congrats to @aparnafordc.bsky.social on winning the Ward 1 Council nomination! I'm proud of what we accomplished on Miguel's campaign, and I wish Aparna the best of luck when she takes over the Ward 1 seat next January.

I just called @aparnafordc.bsky.social to congratulate her & to make plans to put our heads together on pressing priorities for our ward! We both know that DC gov needs to show up better for Ward 1. I’m so proud to have championed our neighbors in this race & to finally see RCV in action! 🩵

i feel like at this point, rather than actually fix and clean the reflecting pool to "american flag blue", trump will just demand that congress change the flag itself to be red, white, and algeal green

It is my sincere hope that Mayor Lewis George brings back the plans for Connecticut Avenue bike lanes on Day 1. No time to lose.

i suppose it's a minor point, but in a race with 14 candidates where you get to vote for 7 and the top 7 people win, and there are two slates of aligned candidates and the slates have names, this seems like a particularly unhelpful way to present the results

a screenshot of the DC Board of Elections results page looking at the race for at-large Democratic Party committeeman and committeewoman race. Each race has along column of names, each of whom has about 5 to 8 percent of the vote. It is extremely difficult to figure out which seven candidates won or which of the two competing slates they are associated with.

Happy election day, DC!! This campaign season feels like it was about two years long, so congrats to all the candidates, staff, and volunteers on making it to the end of a long, long race.

A lamp post in Adams Morgan with signs for four candidates on it, from top to bottom: Oye Owolewa for dc council at-large, and Rashida Brown, Miguel Trindade Deramo, and Terry Lynch for Ward 1 council.

step 1, we elect @elissasilverman.bsky.social next week and to a full term in november step 2, we figure out what regulations these sketchy as hell sports betting conglomerates are spending millions of dollars in dark money to generate this AI slop to try to prevent, and we enact them into law

Keith Ivey@kcivey.bsky.social · 2mo ago

I'm nominating this AI slop for worst mailer of #DCision26. Is there any competition? The fact that it comes from American Future, a sports betting PAC, should be factored in when evaluating its badness. #DCElections

AI slop mailer by American Future for Doni Crawford

By the way my prediction is that they will take his name down from the Kennedy Center in the dead of night, a few days early, and behind scaffolding -- all to try to minimize embarrassing photos and video.
