a lot of chutzpah for a restaurant that opened THIS YEAR to claim that they need to have a 3% service charge due to increased costs associated with I-82 like....did you not research current minimum wage when you first set your menu prices [checks notes] two months ago?

Home rule is all or nothing -- either you believe that the people of DC should be allowed to make our own laws, or you don't. If you run to the GOP congress to get them to undo our laws, you do not stand with the people of DC. #DeleteDoorDash

In a letter to the D.C. Council, Door Dash says its recent advocacy for a House GOP bill that restricts D.C.'s ability to determine taxes and fees reflected its opposition to a new 20-cent delivery tax in D.C., "not D.C.'s broader ability to... govern autonomously."

still pretty mad at @mayorbowser.dc.gov and DDOT Director Kershbaum for being so eager to make streateries all but illegal. It was a very bad decision that is making our neighborhoods actively worse places to live and visit.

my proposal for RFK stadium transit: Everyone who wants to drive simply goes to a large offsite parking lot somewhere near, let's say, landover MD. They can tailgate there if they want to. Then a series of shuttle buses takes them to RFK for the game, and back to their cars afterwards!

D.C. is putting $300 million towards expanding the Stadium Armory station, which Clarke says is needed. But he adds, "There isn’t a lot of time. August 2030 is around the corner for us." Work will have to be done as regular service continues as the station.

It's impossible for me to escape the conclusion that if, for some reason, donald trump decided to cancel student debt in the exact way that joe biden did, the Supreme Court would absolutely find a justification to allow him to do it

i feel like at this point, rather than actually fix and clean the reflecting pool to "american flag blue", trump will just demand that congress change the flag itself to be red, white, and algeal green

i suppose it's a minor point, but in a race with 14 candidates where you get to vote for 7 and the top 7 people win, and there are two slates of aligned candidates and the slates have names, this seems like a particularly unhelpful way to present the results

Happy election day, DC!! This campaign season feels like it was about two years long, so congrats to all the candidates, staff, and volunteers on making it to the end of a long, long race.

step 1, we elect @elissasilverman.bsky.social next week and to a full term in november step 2, we figure out what regulations these sketchy as hell sports betting conglomerates are spending millions of dollars in dark money to generate this AI slop to try to prevent, and we enact them into law

By the way my prediction is that they will take his name down from the Kennedy Center in the dead of night, a few days early, and behind scaffolding -- all to try to minimize embarrassing photos and video.
