Nobody disputes that having access to a car in a car-dominated society is good. It gives one access to jobs, healthcare, food, education, social opportunities and more. All we're asking is for people to go one step deeper and ask why access to such basic rights requires buying and operating a car.

I grew up in Jackson Heights in Queens and we still had a car, and our lives got measurably better when we did.

The son of the man shot and killed by ICE: I am Ronaldo Salgado, the oldest son of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. He should've been picking up the last of his guys before heading to finish up construction. Unbeknownst to all of us, my dad had been shot inside his van by ICE agents in unmarked cars.

This is why the @cityofsaintpaul.bsky.social needs to implement the approved Summit Ave. Reg. Trail plan, plus other protected bike infra laid out in the bike plan. It’s an equity issue: Many people bike because they don’t have a car (e.g., youth, people w/low incomes) and all deserve to be safe.

Yup- always the balance of “do I bike out closer to traffic to avoid the doors, or closer to the parked cars to avoid the traffic and risk the door. Why protected bike lanes/paths are so important

My heart goes out to friends and family of Ricki Allan Larson, as well as all who were involved - the responders, caregivers, witnesses, and the driver. This was a preventable tragedy. We need to understand what is driving these events and how we can stop it. Media has an important role. 🧵1/x
