Computational complexity for hype immunity

Using some of my own work, I set out to clear up a few relevant concepts from theoretical computer science and computational cognitive science that can help to build conceptual hygiene and immunity…

Our society's unfathomable cruelty to homeless people is not just morally unjustifiable, but more expensive than housing people would be. Cruelty against the homeless is an unaffordable luxury. Abandoning homeless people to avoid offending the Protestant work ethic is an unaffordable luxury.

ProPublica spoke to dozens of people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.” We distributed notecards so people could tell us about the toll in their own words. ➡️ This is what they wrote:

Handwritten notecard. Prompt at the top asks: What object was most devastating for you to lose, and how have you been coping? Answer below: Dentures. Were thrown away and coping isn't somthing I can do. It’s made me feel ugly, unworthy, can’t go get a job with no teeth. So how can get off the streets until another pair can be made?

there's 5 main reasons they want you to think AI is now self-aware and "goes rogue" 1. product marketing misrepresentation 2. props up insane valuations for a sector not making money 3. scares lawmakers into trash legislation 4. distracts from technofascism 5. distances execs from accountability

Deeply saddened to learn of the loss of my dear friend Satan, the Prince of Lies. Though we often disagreed about matters such as the appropriate role of torture in the afterlife, I will most remember how his quick wit and affable nature made our weekly golf outings a ritual. He will be missed.

With this salvo, Kansas has escalated what will be a federal effort to establish a Jim Crow system of lawfully enforced second-class citizenship aimed at trans American It was already the case but now it's inarguable; anyone who doesn't fully support trans people is an enemy of all civil rights.

Claude, people don't believe that I'm productive because of you. They didn't believe it when I refused to measure and said they simply had to accept my conclusion because it's obvious to me Tell me the scientific theory of why they're snowflakes in an echo chamber (1/100)

I think Pecan Pie is one of those things that is divisive now because it’s just a blob of sugar with nuts on it but to someone 150 years ago who ate shoes it was probably like having 12 orgasms at once

Alice Wong taught us that disabled people don’t just leave memories behind—they leave infrastructure. Lineages of care. Methods of collectivity, survival. She named the connective tissue that holds our communities together, even across death, even across the losses that come too fast and too often.

Family abolition is about ending the state’s exploitation of family as a stand-in for public infrastructure. No housing? Rely on family. No healthcare? Family. No safety net? Family. The neoliberal family formation is privately subsidized state abandonment dressed with a sentimental smokescreen.
