MGM letterhead logo from 1965. Taken from this classic "I, a powerful person, am completely useless"-type letter from the collection of Firesign's Phil Austin (we've all saved one of those!). Guy Green was a director, at the time lensing "A Patch of Blue" for MGM.

BildLetter from director Guy Green to Phil Austin on MGM letterhead, March 11, 1965: "Dear Mr. Austin: Thank you for your letter of March 4th. I would be very happy to help you get started on a career in the Motion Picture Industry, but at the moment I can't think what I can do for you. However, I will keep your letter, and if ever anything crops up I'll get in touch with you. Yours sincerely, Guy Green"

Your reminder that Humboldt Fog cheese, Humboldt County, CA, the Humboldt penguin (Spheniscus humboldti),and the Humboldt Current that allows wine grapes to grow in Chile are all named for an 18th C gay scientist whose love letters were all burned and who left his entire estate to his “valet.” 🏳️‍🌈
