Trump & Russ Vought proposed a rule to take every federal grant in America hostage. They don't care about making our tax dollars work better—they just want them to work for Trump. Well, Democrats BLOCKED their corrupt rule, and I'll be fighting to kill it permanently.

This is particularly true about elections. There is nothing that could make Trump accept he lost in 2020. He believes he has 100% approval in the polls. There is nothing that could make him believe the 2026 elections aren’t rigged. The world is only right if it conforms to his delusions

It was stunning to hear RFK Jr say that he’s got measles and cyclosporiasis “under control” and praising himself for his efforts Measles cases for 2026 just hit a 35 year high and we still have 5 more months in the year He represents a combination of venality, grifting, eugenics, & incompetence

">900 people in Washtenaw County, MI, have been sickened with cyclosporiasis since mid-June. Linda Kim, a public health nurse, has called >100 of them. Almost everyone has said the same thing: It’s excruciating, and one of the worst illnesses they’ve experienced." kffhealthnews.org/public-healt...

Starting in Spring or Summer 2027 K99/R00 (under its new activity code KT1/R00) will only be available to US citizens, permanent residents, and non-citizen nationals. I am hearing this from many program officers, but NIH has yet to make an official statement to my knowledge.

I like how every scientist is expected to be experienced in every model and technique. And that model systems are only valuable if they mirror human biology. Because I guess that is now the only way knowledge advances now.

Responding to emails this morning and there is one from a parent asking about our graduate program and...no, I'm not even going to respond to this one. Why would I be interested in a grad student who needs their mom to help them make adult decisions and take adult actions?

BREAKING: The property tax proposal pushed by Gov. Ron DeSantis can’t appear on the ballot the way his office wrote it, a judge ruled. The ruling said the proposed constitutional amendment uses language “more akin to a political slogan” rather than being clear and neutral, which state law requires.

Florida judge rules property tax amendment misleading, orders rewrite

The property tax proposal initially pushed by Gov. Ron DeSantis can’t appear on the ballot the way his office wrote it, a Tallahassee judge ruled late Monday night.

Incredible The director of the CDC & NIH, who has a massive public platform, is *still* saying his feelings are hurt cuz scientists, health workers, & public health experts rejected his kooky Covid ideas Dude, you won—Trump & RFK Jr appointed you to punish the libs by dismantling public health 😢

Let’s unpack this post by NIH and CDC Director and self-made victim Jay Bhattacharya. 1. This was not misreporting. This is what RFK Jr. said in his interview. 2. Free speech was not “suspended”. If it had been no one would know who Bhattacharya is.

Screenshot of Bhattacharya’s Twitter post that says This misreporting by @politico gets to the heart of the covid response disaster. If governments had not suspended free speech, and the media not abetted devastating takedowns of scientists for the crime of contradicting government scientists, so much harm could have been avoided.

“A White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity said institutions that do announce reforms could be more likely to be involved in discussions around reshaping the roughly $200 billion federal research funding apparatus that is vital to higher education.” It’s extortion

Scoop: The Trump administration is sending a letter to college presidents asking them to pledge a series of policy changes by the end of the year. Unlike last year's Compact, this effort was devised with input from higher ed leaders. Free link to my exclusive: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

I say this with a degree of irony, but academic institutions need to take the lessons learned by companies and big polluters and be ready to sue/fight back against any imposition of executive authority that might disrupt their operations, no matter how slight. The legal protections are stronger.
