There is almost literally nothing more certain in life than that cracking down on a peaceful protest results in exponentially more harm to people and property than letting it play out, with open lines of communication and coordination between protest leaders and law enforcement.

I am always thinking about how Peg Lautenschlager took weeks and days and then hours of talking with the last Act 10 protesters who would not leave the Capitol when ordered and then marched out with them after they reached agreement. Someone else worked with her too; help me remember who that was.

one framing that would be useful is that a lot of the angst is driven by the fact that the presumptive GOP candidate is an election denier, not just a person with whom Dems have policy disagreements. The idea that Dem "electability" is the retaining wall of the republic is a real problem

This framing pisses me off. What happened is the third-place candidate dropped out because her campaign staff was Bad At Their Jobs, only to be replaced by the fourth-place candidate who had dropped out a week earlier. There is no "upheaval." The primary votes are exactly where they have been. 1/

I’ve said this out loud but I don’t think I’ve written it here: I have genuine anger that the current administration stole this from us. If we were celebrating America 250 with President Kamala Harris, I would have genuinely been into it. I might even have bought a flag. Fuck Trump for ruining it.

It is amazing that the 250th anniversary of America was pretty much just not a thing. You could tell all the companies thought it would be, they had 250th ketchup and ice cream and energy drinks but all we got was a shit ass fair that no one went to
