I just saw an infectious disease doctor liken wearing a mask in 2026 to “wearing two condoms to prevent HIV” which has got to be one of the wildest, most irresponsible takes I’ve ever heard. First of all - Wearing one condom does protect you from HIV, as a well-fit respirator does from COVID!

longcovid is not uncommon, not prevented by vaccines, & likelihood of developing it increases w every subsequent acute infection (of whose severity doesnt seem to correlate with getting LC). symptoms can range from annoying to debilitating, & impacts ppl w marginalized identities disproportionately.

The refusal to learn is one thing, but the dismissal of reality is another. Long Covid is too painful, too common & too present in many people’s lives to be denied. The story is hard to rewrite.

I think MPs should have to be in office the same number of days as other public servants. They like their hybrid arrangements? Then everyone else gets them too. And I think voting on legislation from their phones should be illegal, and the fact that any MPs have done it should be a massive scandal.
