There are a lot of action indie devs who also want players to care about their worlds and stories but struggle to do it in an action context. I think they ought to rethink how they approach action - most action games dont put emphasis on terrain, observation & spatial awareness

the original “you control the buttons you press” tweet worked because it was in reply to a guy effectively asking the ID devs for a way to disable “jumping” in Mario and they met his stupid request with an even stupider answer to mock him. But everyone who uses the meme just is that guy unironically
