I'm a game developer currently working on my first game, "Whiskerwood Vale", a lowpoly 3D platformer made in Godot! I stream work on the game daily on YouTube and Twitch! http://linktr.ee/whiskerwoodvale

In 2017 Universal wanted to start their cinematic "Dark Universe" with a Mummy movie. During the production I was chosen as background artist for a companion game, developed in just 8 months crunch. The movie wasn't just bad but considered worst movie of the year which destroyed the games sales.

My current contract is ending this month and I'm once again available for work! Part-time or full-time. I've been a freelancer in games for well over a decade, and I bring a lot of energy to the projects I'm on! Need an extra pair of hands? Let's talk! maenots.carrd.co contact: maenots@gmail.com

Have you noticed, lately, or noticed people around you commenting, that there just seems to be no money anymore. There's no money for companies to make the tv shows you like, the video games you like, the local diner you like shut down, no one you know can find a job. Think about that in context of

AI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP. Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down. "AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago. We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.

One of my best friends and among the coolest humans I've ever met is struggling and reaching out for help. They're a great artist and hardworking but unfortunately suffering some really bad luck and a hard time finding work due to AI replacing jobs that they'd love to be working themselves.

That's cool. I'm sure all the BitReactor devs that were furloughed weeks before launch are gonna see some of that $50 million... right? Residuals are standard in other creative industries. If the people who actually made the game got their share of the profits, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Star Wars Zero Company is estimated to have sold 1 million copies, with the majority of those sales coming from Steam, which Alinea Analytics' Rhys Elliott estimates has generated around $50 million since last month’s launch. https://bit.ly/4xKTiku

They fired so many artists over this too. People who helped make the game iconic were tossed out on the street because the Slop Faucet could do it "decent enough". If you still play Fortnite, you're funding the hyper-acceleration of AI replacing Artists in Gaming

Working on 2D and 3D card effects! The game can handle 750 of the 3D version before dipping into the 60fps range, which is way past my target of ~200 being possible. (the diorama is currently made entirely of 2D sprites, making the layers visible at acute angles, but I could put in a full 3D model)

They market it as ownership, and downgrade it to "you get to play this until we unilaterally decide otherwise - no promises on lifetime or warning" in the small print It's deceptive, it's anti-consumer, and it deserves all the backlash it's getting and more
