That RS article about Langley is kind of poorly written, but it did its primary job of pissing off and making every single type of person they were talking about do the exact same thing as furiously and vindictively as possible. Go girls! Show your asses!

Bodies of Horror is back - um, resurrected? - after a brief hiatus due to technical difficulties. Only fitting to cover BRING HER BACK - an absolute banger of a film that goes very deep and very hard into disability, caregiving, and loss.

Today on the Anatomy of a Scream Pod Squad: @bodiesofhorror.bsky.social returns with a long overdue look at the Australian supernatural folk horror film BRING HER BACK (2025), directed by Danny and Michael Philippou.

K. Franklin, ... Sun (****): Add Franklin to the long list of WOC who understand Americana as a construct first and a genre label as a far distant second. The most country-adjacent numbers here fly highest, but she's not one to entertain such restrictions, and she makes this full-length debut count.

D. Nail, Flowers (***): Collab with Anderson East brings him back in a more country-adjacent direction after quite some time in a moody adult-pop lane. That era was undercut by a weird streak of mean-spiritedness in his writing, and that's gone now, too. A solid effort at recentering on this one.

I may have committed a sin and convinced the guy sitting next to me at the Eagles game to rewatch Jack & Jill cause I was drunkenly telling my cousin about my theory on it representing the two halves of Sandler's career.

Miguel Mendez was one of the voices that got me returning to country music with fresh ears and an open mind back in 2020. And I'm happy to say his latest LP was absolutely worth the wait.

If you see this, don't participate. It's a rigged study by Lisa Littman and unethical researcher J. Michael Bailey meant to undermine access to care. Spread the word.

When I was a kid, the only Native representation I saw in cartoons was A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Special. I made Pow! to show that modern, funny Native characters deserve to be seen too. Watch us on FNX. If you like it, review us on @letterboxd.social and tell your friends!

Horror-end of things, Liked Smile 2 initially and now love it. I really think it plays perfectly as a companion to the first with the way it builds on expectations and creating an inner turmoil within the viewer that turns the first's oppressive hopelessness into a beautiful comedic tragedy.

I also regret to inform you that A Nonsense Christmas was kind of a mess, tone and pacing were all over the place, some songs didn't get enough air time and others had way too many jarring cuts to be captivating. Definitely the most disappointing of the 14 holiday specials we watched this week.
