We are in a situation where we are creating two educational Americas- one where students see lives different than their own and learn to grapple with our heritage and one where students read only about their own communities and are unprepared for a complex global work world they are entering.
Our own @becalzada.bsky.social points out that vendor tools can be helpful but also lead to increased censorship. Thoughtful communication between vendors and librarians matters.

The new Tx "Required Reading List" k12 - elementary list made some improvements, but titles at the high school level, while suitable for AP Ss, don't include any modern/diverse titles and will be SOOO difficult to teach the average Texas student. Plus bible. www.texarkanagazette.com/news/2026/ju...
