The California state legislature decades ago required civil engineers to pass two separate exams on seismic and surveying. Now so few civil engineers do any survey work, that they are desperately looking for people to write and review questions.

Had a routine appointment today and I think "pediatrician for middle class white folks" must be one of the easiest jobs on earth. I came in with 10 super specific questions and the doctor's answer to each was "who cares?" and "that's totally normal."

Men used to have ROMANCE Men used to be SPONTANEOUS Men used to come home and surprise their wives with COORDINATED OUTFITS and say YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE DRUMS, WE ARE IN A BAND, we are called THE WHITE STIPES, you are now my SISTER

Unlike a lot of people in the Moderate Sensible Center I think Trump genuinely admires Hitler, thinks that his affect, tactics, and strategic vision mirror Hitler's, and that he just needs to correct one or two errors in Hitler's judgment in order to rule the world for 1000 years.

What about reduced fares for entrepreneurs who start a small business in a low-income census tract that employs at least 5 people in 3 of the last 5 years

Today is #NationalGrandparentsDay! Many older adults depend on public transit to provide the freedom, mobility, and independence they need to maintain a high quality of life. Senior Smart Trip program plays such an important role. www.wmata.com/pay/fare-programs/senior-smart-trip.html

TRACY: New York City needs another 9/11. GRIZZ: Why would you say something like that? TRACY: I’m sick of having to go to midtown for a Big Gulp! GRIZZ: Tray, 9/11 was the day Osama bin Laden killed 3000 people. TRACY: Osama did that? Damn. I told him not to take so many double shifts at the 9/11.

I finally found a game my hardware supports (the "Hitman" iPhone game) and it's pretty fun even without killing anybody, which gets pretty stressful. I'm on the Opera (second) level and it's neat to find all the goofy assassination techniques that don't actually work (there's a chandelier!)

Every once in a while I look into "gaming" and if you only do this once in a while it is a completely bewildering experience. I don't blame gamers for not having full time jobs or paying attention to their partners or kids, gaming genuinely appears to me to be an utterly exhausting full-time job.
