The amazing development in medicine in today’s news - where they can repair a fetus abdomen while still inside the mother during pregnancy, has me thinking about my friends with uterine fibroids. Their surgical treatment options are unchanged since the 70s - innovation when women aren’t vessels 👎

As a scientist & woodland expert I keep seeing pictures of the fires in Western Continental Europe & examples in these islands too. I have only seen industrial forestry* on fire. These are non-native tree species, planted as a monoculture & which are a fire risk, unlike native woodland.

In the last maybe 12 hours? I've been bombarded with responses from anonymous accounts calling me a groomer, a pedophile, a danger to women and kids, a creep, a cocksucker, a faggot etc. They've really demolished my point about GC's being unreasonable people. You've really proven me wrong, lads.

That's an incredibly misleading headline from the Belfast Telegraph. It didn't get any sort of 'go-ahead'. They got nothing, They even gave up the right to protest. That they are holding another event elsewhere is irrelevant.

It’s after the group and the festival reached an agreement at Belfast’s High Court, which brings legal proceedings to an end. Women’s Rights Network Northern Ireland (WRN NI) had started legal proceedings after an event Respect, Rights and Reality was cancelled last week. It had been due to be held on August 4. The group, which describes itself as “putting the sex-based needs of women and girls first” said Féile had “chosen to silence the voices of the very group that makes up half the population”. In a statement, Women’s Rights Network Northern Ireland (WRN NI) said it “is delighted to have reached an agreement with Féile an Phobail which brings the current legal proceedings to an end”. Féile an Phobail said it would continue to promote events “which provide balance and inclusivity”. Papers submitted by WRN NI to the High Court in Belfast stated the cancellation was “wrongful, null and void”. A hearing had been set to go head in the High Court yesterday, but shortly beforehand, both parties released statements. The group said: “The Judge congratulated the parties today, saying they both deserved credit for reaching a resolution in this difficult domain involving emotive issues. “Féile has agreed to meet with WRN NI to explore and discuss our potential participation in future Féile events, and we warmly welcome the opportunity for continued engagement.” They thanked their supporters and said: “Our work continues. We look forward to the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI) Judicial Review later this year, where WRN NI will continue advocating for women’s sex-based rights and for the safety, privacy and dignity of women and girls across Northern

Make no mistake, what the "gender critical" movement wanted was to force Féile Belfast into compliance through lawfare. That is their modus operandi when it comes to dealing with any org that shows a scintilla of support for trans people. They lost this time, and they're struggling to cope with it.

I am disappointed but not surprised that the men of the Feile team took to social media to gloat and crow about their intransigence. There was no win for them and representing it that way is disingenuous. WRN wished for Feile to WANT to reinstate our panel discussion rather than be FORCED to. However despite cancelling our event, Feile provided us with a platform far bigger than merely west Belfast to get our message heard across Northern Ireland and further afield. Conversations about whether women have the right to speak openly and honestly, about whether a publicly funded organisation - regardless of its origins - should ensure it represents ALL lawful viewpoints and experiences, and demonstrate for the world to see just exactly who is trying to marginalise who here. Who knew women were such a threat! Respect, rights and reality - I’ll buy you a dictionary.

I reply to men that say these things by telling them they're more likely to be raped themselves than the victim of a false accusation and it shuts them up every single time because they've never once ever considered they, too, could be raped.

Approximately 1 out of 3 women will experience sexual and/or physical abuse in their lifetime and you still have men claiming that allegations must be false because there are too many of them. It’s actually the opposite. The vast majority allegations will never become public
