Lamine Yamal was asked today about rightwing former Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy's criticism of France's team that it "does not have any French players." Yamal's response was yet another sign of how mature he is as a 19-year-old. And maybe how media-trained, but it was still impressive.
Look, it physically pains me to agree with Clay Travis but he's right. (And, brace yourselves, Lalas is stupid and wrong). I have a very, very strong hobby horse with all the things wrong with youth sports today, as someone who believes participating in sports is one of the best things for kids.
Taking a little pause from my writing here to remind all of you (or those of you who need reminding) that athletes who make mistakes are still human beings and should be treated as such. Thank you.
