Please stop paying for anything Harry Potter. This is where your money is going. At this point, you're not an ally, you're an abuser and we're your victim.

For fans of special challenges, the final Bowser battle in New Super Mario Bros. U presents the "Defeat Bowser By Throwing His Son At Him Challenge". Normally Bowser dies after 3 hits with the Clown Car. However, the player can also throw Bowser Jr. at Bowser NINETY times to win.

In the final battle of New Super Mario Bros. U, the intended method to damage Bowser is Bowser Jr.'s Junior Clown Car.
After knocking Bowser Jr. out of the Clown Car, Mario can ride it into the air above Bowser...
...and perform a spin down onto him. It takes three hits to defeat Bowser in this way.
However, if Mario stomps Bowser Jr. while he is running back to the Clown Car after being knocked out...
...he will retreat into his shell, which Mario can pick up.
Mario can then throw Bowser Jr. at Bowser...
...which does not even seem to do anything to Bowser except briefly redden the area of impact.
Yet, this does actually deal damage to Bowser... being 1.12% of his health. Bowser will die after being hit NINETY TIMES with Bowser Jr.'s shell, making this an extremely time-consuming way to win this battle.
...even more so than hitting him with fireballs, which takes 180 hits but at least does not have a cooldown like Bowser Jr. has.

I don’t know how to use chatgpt etc but I imagine it’s going to a website and typing “oh no what groceries do I buy please tell me false god for I am so weak I cannot go on” as your brain atrophies and leaks out of your ears from disuse and the machine is like “buy eggs milk bread and a horse”

”This is our story” ☀️🌙 This is late but Happy 25th to the Final Fantasy game I hold closest to my heart!! I wanted to celebrate with a parody of Klimt’s “The Kiss” since I adore every aspect of Tidus and Yuna’s romance. 🥰 Here’s hoping FFX-3 becomes real in our lifetimes 🤞

Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.

Inside a mass shooter’s harrowing history with ChatGPT

A year of chats reveals glaring red flags—and disturbing ChatGPT replies—from long before a rampage at Florida State University.

"Why can't you just appreciate how revolutionary the job-taking, environment-degrading, information-shredding, technology-hoarding, economy-swamping machine is?" My brother in Christ, there may indeed be a revolution in part because of "AI," but it might not be the one you wanted.

Every now and then someone takes a run at me along the lines of "I don't understand why you, a scifi writer, don't appreciate 'AI'," and I'm all, motherfucker, it's *because* I'm a science fiction writer I have the positions I have, how many times do we have to fucking yell "torment nexus," my dude

a $20 boot lasts a month but a $200 boot lasts 50 years but the company that makes the $200 boot got bought out by private equity and changed factories to the same one that makes the $20 boot so now it only lasts a year but another company bought the original factory and is selling boots for $400

"people long for cheap disposable things" or buying goods has become a crapshoot of quality and people are focusing on the only signals that are reliable: price and social signals

This is an important story, beyond the world of sports. There were BIG MONEY interests at stake here. But *organized opposition* to a cartoonishly corrupt sell-off torpedoed the plan. Almost immediately. There is a lesson here.

Infantino scraps FIFA World Cup sell-off plan after backlash

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has scrapped his proposal to sell stakes in the World Cup after widespread backlash, including from within global soccer's governing body, and a threatened boycott by European Nations.

Being anti-AI isn't enough. You should be pro-art, pro-artist, pro-writer, pro-worker. Don't expend all your energy tearing people down. Spend it lifting people up instead. Make their voices so loud, their art so visible, it drowns out the slop.

so I just want to emphasize something here that non-media people might not pick up on: Marisa is an independent journalist and is taking on the risk of being sued by Moraff here without any institutional backing. That's admirable bravery - and also means being very, very certain of the facts.

Exclusive from me — Daniel Moraff, one of the political operatives behind Graham Platner's rise and fall, has been accused of sexual assault. Full story here:

Nobody wants predictive data models to stop working for the people in medicine. Or translating ancient Pompeii texts. Or the other ways we were already using it. We want it to stop replacing workers, killing the environment, and stealing from artists. Hope that clarifies.

AI cures cancer.

Bluesky: actualky the AI didn't really cure cancer. Just predicted the next most likely word in a loop until a solution to cancer was extruded

Supporting the animators does not mean embracing a narrative that the use of ChatGPT was done by someone wholly unaffiliated with the project. As present, no one has taken responsibility/been blamed, and there's absolutely no way to know yet how, where, and to what degree it was used, and by whom.

"Misinformation" is an incorrect term, here: someone involved with the Avatar movie used AI for cultural consultation/research or marketing copy text, and it's not unfair for folks to write the whole thing off accordingly. Was it a department head or exec, giving notes? Was it someone in marketing?

Like I'm not sorry I saw "we used the AI racism machine to racistly research cultural hairstyles" on a literal fucking giant screen and assumed "hey, they might've used the racism machine to do racistly ignorant cultural research, that's worrying and we should know if that's true"

People weren't saying the animation was made with AI oh my GOD!!! That's not what people were worried about- they were worried about cultural research being assisted by ai- as mentioned in an official art book at an official event!!
