The ERROR project recruits independent experts to recheck social sciences papers’ data, statistics, methodology, code; now the project plans to publish the reviews in a new peer-reviewed journal. science.org/content/arti... @dalmeet.bsky.social @science.org #reproducibility
Offering scientists cash to spot errors in published papers doesn’t work
The ERROR project tried enticing reviewers with payments. Now, it’s launching a journal—and promising papers as rewards

It is deeply stupid that this is happening. Not to mention entirely avoidable.
Academics and technologists are sounding the alarm about a growing crisis in scholarship as we know it: AI-generated citations of nonexistent papers that have infested real journals. Despite being fake, the sources are widely assumed to be authentic the more they appear in published literature.
Update: the lack of date is *not* normal & *is* a bad sign :')
Uuuhhh is it normal for the NSF Social Psychology grant not to have a deadline listed? I'm still new to the ins and outs of grant apps so this could be totally normal--it's just hard to know with *waves hands vaguely in all directions*. www.nsf.gov/funding/oppo...

Red flare for Trump: 'No Kings' rallies a show of political force
With a Revolutionary-era slogan, the protests had an historic geographical reach across the country. What does that mean for November?

I don't think people fully appreciate how apocalyptic things are for US science. I haven't had any new funding since 2024, but I'm still ok since typical grants are for three years. This means next year I will be completely out of funding and will have to fire everyone in the lab. It's not great.
NSF Update through March 13, 2026 1/2
A great idea for those of use that can’t physically march.
We removed the barriers and created an accessible space because resistance is for everyone, everywhere. The *official* No Kings Accessible Rally will be a virtual event to protect our health, defend our democracy, and say NO KINGS. Details: zurl.co/TXWd7 #NoKings #NoKings3 #Democracy #NK3VR
Apparently, every 3 years, I write a purpose theory paper! In 2020, I wrote about how purpose fits into personality psych. In 2023, I wrote about if/how purpose meets Allport's criteria for a trait. In 2026, I'm excited to share a paper on purpose as a state! www.researchgate.net/publication/...

Trump’s own counterterrorism chief has resigned over the Iran war. Joseph Kent, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, wrote in a letter addressed directly to Donald Trump that Iran posed no imminent threat to the United States
“I think what ICE is doing is the worst thing America has probably done since the internment camps during World War II.” One of the nation's top "justice facility" architecture firms will no longer work on ICE detention centers or deportation facilities after its employees staged a revolt.

I recently learned about the app 5 Calls. By putting in your address and select an issue you care about, it provides you the number of your representatives and a script on an issue. Calling is one of the best way to make our voices heard. It took me two mins to call both my senators.
I am happy to report that everyone is right and that teaching a course the second time around *is* 10x easier* *fingers crossed I don't regret saying this later in the semester

The government is saying that violence rules. That snatching foreign leaders and territories, and shooting US citizens in their cars at point blank range, is justified. That resistance is not only futile, it is dangerous. They can say these things. But they cannot force us to believe them.
New in PN: Renee Good's killer can and must be prosecuted "There’s no path to justice that runs through this administration or the federal courts. Hell, Trump will probably give the shooter a medal, and would certainly give him a pardon. But there is a path to justice that runs through Minnesota."

1. The federal government has just attempted to enact a national trans youth care ban. A new HHS rule would shutter most gender-affirming care for trans youth nationwide. It violates multiple laws and the constitution, and will likely go into effect in a few months. Our latest story here:
