I've grown to groan when someone calls something a "deconstruction" because usually it isn't. It's just the first one the viewer paid attention to without scrolling their phone for 2/3rds of the run time so now it's gotta be the exception so they don't have to admit they were wrong about a genre
Related to this concept, but I also can't stand when someone actually ends up enjoying something in a genre they dismiss, so they end up claiming it's actually a "deconstruction" or "not like other things in the genre". People do this a lot with RPGs; just admit you enjoyed one for once.
News for nerds and/or cool people: "[title] Abridged," an entire modern genre of Internet entertainment, was made by a trans woman.
I've been making changes in my personal life that I haven't spoken very publicly on, but one thing I do want to be public is that my close friends call me Bea now. And if any of you want to call me Bea or B, that would make me very happy. <3 But no pressure, I won't be upset if I hear Martin.
The Bald Range fire now occupies more than 53 sq miles (136 sq km) areas of British Columbia, according to the BC Wildfire Service. "We have to brace ourselves for the worst," Officials said the flames were so high that they had created their own weather systems, which creates lightning

Defiling the dobby grave is a great trial run for when JK kicks the bucket. You could make an annual tradition out of it
fr. infuriating to see some people actually tinfoil hat over this shit. like, "sometimes a PC port just kind of sucks balls when it releases" is much more plausible than "sony put millions of expenses into an unnecessary PC port so that it would suck enough to make you buy a PS5 for some reason"
Tokon PC release seems embarrassing but I also think "yeah they made the PC release bad to push PS+ and PS5 sales" is maybe a bit much
They rerouted the power link to run close to Bronze Age archeological sites to appease fans of a fictional character...

It may be easy to dismiss distressed trans folk as hyperbolic about the UK but like... "the lawsuits will keep coming" is a way that the wealthy could make *anything* happen. Any group disappeared from social life; any evil appropriated as a social justice crusade.
The UK is a very normal and well-functioning state where if you have enough money you can destroy the rights of minorities by throwing endless lawsuits at the government until they do what you want
always remember that since it's illegal to slander JK Rowling in Britain it's important for the rest of us to slander her twice as much on their behalf

Awful news out of Summerland. My thoughts are with all those affected by these horrific wildfires. This is the time to call for a provincial state of emergency.
Civil servants have generally traded a lower income for increased stability; without genuinely binding assurances of stability, the government is a much less attractive employer. That’s the aim for ideologues who often don’t know what the government does, but it’s not a good thing.
The idea that deep institutional damage can be easily rolled back seems like a very odd take for a conservative. The damage to the civil service system is huge, and legislation is needed to reassure future hires they won’t be fired on a whim.
Might as well post it here! A magical girl animation I've been slowly chipping at over the weekends for ages.
