This was a fascinating exercise: find out what went wrong with creativity in the games industry. The conclusion: there are too many cowards controlling too many critical levers, and until we figure out how to put people -taste, creativity, and craft- back at the top, we're going to be stuck.

The games industry is stifled by a culture of fear, concludes a workgroup hosted by Rami Ismail. https://bit.ly/4vPbIzv

And now the G.U.I.D.E. addon for #godot has Steam Controller support! I haven't tried out the gyro yet, but it uses the same setup as the Deck #gamedev github.com/godotneers/G...

#gamedev pro tip for anyone else using #godot with a #steam controller: setting up the steam addon makes the controller work inside the editor (since it requires steam's input system to send controller inputs)! store.godotengine.org/asset/godots...

new release of @icons, my custom node icon library for #godot ! 61 new icons, bringing the total to 618(!!) icons 🤯, and improvements to the in-editor icon picker available down below, as well as on GitHub and soon on the Godot Asset Store and AssetLib voxybuns.itch.io/at-icons/dev...

a collage of icons in alternating colors, arranged in a grid. text in the corner reads:

"@icons

You've been asking for this and I'm finally delivering (tomorrow). CC0 skyboxes, compatible with most game engines and completely free. ☁️

Working on navigation by adding "clearance" to tiles, where each tile knows how much space is around it. The player's crew can be different-sized folks, so actors check their size against this, to know if they can path somewhere or if the player needs to raise some ceilings first! #Godot #GameDev

A grid-based game environment, showing two characters of different sizes, standing in a cavern chamber. Cubes in various hues mark how much open space can be found at any one point, using red (space to the right), green (space above), and blue (space behind).

Having a little issue on here where most of my following timeline is politics instead of creations. Who to follow? Give me recommendations so I can do a little clean-up!
