Got a bit more bug squishing to go, to support larger character sizes, but complex pathfinding is in! 1-tile-big critters can navigate the easiest path to wherever they want to go, so long as they have the right walking, climbing, and jumping ability flags! #Godot #GameDev

This was a fascinating exercise: find out what went wrong with creativity in the games industry. The conclusion: there are too many cowards controlling too many critical levers, and until we figure out how to put people -taste, creativity, and craft- back at the top, we're going to be stuck.

The games industry is stifled by a culture of fear, concludes a workgroup hosted by Rami Ismail. https://bit.ly/4vPbIzv

A few years ago, a friend was contracting with a studio EA owns, and mentioned a strange talk by an EA exec. Among other things, he reassured everyone about how acquisitions just happen sometimes, but they're not *all* bad. I figured he was priming them for a Disney buy out at the time, but eesh...

Well, I guess Electronic Arts belongs to Saudi Arabia, private equity, and Jared Kushner now. https://kotaku.com/electronic-arts-officially-belongs-saudi-arabia-jared-kushner-now-2000721666

If you’re at an EA studio and want to anonymously talk about what’s going on and how the company is communicating with workers about this, I can be reached by dm here, email at kshepard@kotaku.com, or I can send you my Signal.

NEO Scavenger, the previous title, was the sort of game where every part of it was intricate, but once you learned enough about it you could absolutely make it dance. Ostranauts has been in development for at least as long, and if you're an imm sim person you should really check it out.

Never been able to get a Miski design on Yeetee, because I never have the money to spare while they're being printed... but this is adorable. :< Made my peace already, but if this came on a tank top I'd have to make it happen somehow...

I'm excited to announce that @theyetee.com's first two Moon Child items are available for pre-order now: a cool pin and T-shirt! ➡️ theyetee.com/collections/...

A pin and T-shirt featuring the 1990s Moon Child platform game character.

It feels unfair to compare, but I've had a version of this, WRT making games. It's a craft I've loved since I started learning it as a pre-teen. Being able to scrape by doing something I loved and was good at was such a treasure. And now, being without that for almost a year has felt so alienating.

To have something that brings you sustained joy and purpose is a lucky thing. Idk if we think of it like that, but it is. This is a casual vid, but he makes so many great points about passion and loss. Watched it a couple times now. www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6u5...

shares appreciated! i need a new bug catcher and they don't make this model anymore! the other models i've been able to find look much less conducive to photography. looking for advice! more context below.

a bug catcher. it's a clear plastic triangular prism attached to a long arm. a little switch (not visible) pushes a thin plastic membrane across the bottom of the prism, making it easy to place the catcher over an insect and then close the prism around it. however the clear plastic is covered in huge marks, making photography more difficult

I love the gimmick in Absolute Martian Manhunter, where the comic tells you to hold a page up to the light, so the colors from the other side of the page bleed through and change the image on the page. Very cool way to represent the isolation of John and Bridget's broken relationship.
