Become a game developer with the Godot game engine! Hundreds of free tutorials and open-source demos: http://gdquest.com

We made a free shader series, Your First Shader from ZERO in Godot 4: gdquest.com/library/firs... You will create an animated portal step by step and learn reusable techniques like drawing procedural shapes, create masks, use smoothstep() to control transitions, draw gradients, animate, and more.

The free intro to shaders guide we're working on for @godotengine.org is shaping up well. It should amount to about 1/5th of a book in size. We're making sure all the techniques covered (masking, warping, procedural shapes, etc.) are common building blocks directly applicable to many game shaders.

You cannot technically explain yourself out of UX issues, please stop trying. So often I see users bring up UX issues, and programmers then tell them how much work it was to create their product. It doesn't matter how much work it was!! What matters is if your target audience uses it or not.

Recently I got invited to join the new Godot UX team. When I have time I will be helping testing editor PRs and make Godot more usable for everyone. What are some of the most annoying things about Godot UI/UX that you think need attention?

We made this free open source app to help people take their first steps with coding. It's used in schools and part of Godot docs' getting started series. After focusing on our curriculum, I'm back to improving it. Next version drops in January with clearer lessons where newcomers struggle most.

We've been working on something special for you, GDLibrary: a completely free library for Godot devs Think of it as your go-to place whenever you need help: tutorials, guides, a glossary to look up terms, and open source demos and assets to use in your games! Here's a quick peek at what's coming.

🎨✨ Help Test a New Inkscape Feature! You can now recolor selected objects right from the Fill & Stroke dialog — but we need your feedback before release! 👉 Download, test, and tell us what you think: gitlab.com/inkscape/ux/... Your input will help us catch bugs 🐛 and polish the UI for everyone 🚀

Text: "New feature: Recolor Artwork" and "Testers Needed!"
Image is of buildings triangular rooves with each face on a building having a different colour, but matching the rest of the building-shapes. The new recolour dialog is open on the right and half the shaapes are selected. Those selected have some different colours applied.

Coming in the next module in Learn 2D Gamedev From Zero with Godot: interactive guides to learn tileset creation and tilemaps for level design hands-on, straight within Godot.
