Burrito discourse got me wanting a burrito.

Thank you to all Portlanders who testified today on the Moda Center term sheet. We heard a clear message: given our current affordability crisis, budget deficit, and recent service and job cuts, Portlanders expect transparency, stronger terms, and measurable public benefits.

I love the contradiction that the people who love to talk about the values of individual liberty are usually the first to be like "we have to lock up people with mental illness for the betterment of the community!

the testimony about how we need public money to go into private hands so then the private sector can give to philanthropic organizations / non-profits was actually the clearest explanation of the rot of neoliberalism I've ever heard. The government should just fund public services & employ people.

Finally turned on the testimony today and I forgot that this is my favorite part of local politics. Just hearing individuals speak, regardless of if I agree with them or not.

On Tuesday, we didn't have any meals to share - but that didn't stop us from making sure our unhoused neighbors stayed cool & hydrated! In addition to cold water, cooling scarves, & harm reduction stuff, we also gave out N95 masks to filter out all the wildfire smoke #MutualAid #PDX #MutualAidPDX

Some days I think about making a thread of all the terrible things Owendoff has said/supported with his name officially attached but for today I just wanted to share this gem from a couple months ago I've been holding onto.

I don't like that we live in a political environment where people view having a Nazi tattoo and being Muslim as similar or equal barriers to be overcome if you're running for a medium-high profile elected position.

I'm bringing my surveillance-based pricing proposal forward now because the best time to prevent unfair pricing practices is before it becomes part of everyday shopping.

God, having some sort of statistical analysis verify that a not-insignificant portion of the people who demand more money for Portland Police don't even live here is pulsing through my blood right now.

Reading reddit comments on the Green Burn Ban situation and maybe I'm just a wee overly analytic but a lot of these "people" are using the same words and phrases in the same way....

For anyone who didn't see the update: Actually sounds reasonable from the neighbor (heard loud noise and saw big flames.) Green responded with ignorance of the burn ban being in place, and that he actually put it out not PFR.

Willy Week is reporting Mitch Green violated the burn ban (which isn't cool) but I can't imagine the type of person one has to be to call 911 about it.

There is only one person who has successfully evaluated the trolley problem and it's this kid right here.
