This is a sloppy and sleazy summary of events in Gorsuch's dissent in the Pitchford decision. He can't say that Pitchford shot the store manager because Pitchford did not - his accomplice (who received a lesser sentence) did. So Gorsuch says instead, "At the end of it the store manager lay dead."

Trump already has burnished the image of Republicans as a pro-corruption party, but Paxton's victory in the runoff adds another powerful proof point. Republican senators and Republican Senate candidates will be forced to defend Paxton and his record of corruption from now until Election Day.

Talarico got over 1.2 million votes in his competitive primary with Crockett. Paxton did not come close that that in March and certainly won't come close that that tonight.

Trump’s legacy of failure and incompetence already is indelibly defined. Wicker’s proposal would deepen the degree of Trump’s political disaster.
