Last year, a TTP report showed how Meta platforms were awash with scam ads that deployed AI-generated deepfakes to prey on users. Now, a new @apnews.com investigation details how many other US tech products—like AI and Starlink—fit into global scam operations. apnews.com/article/scam...

Don't look now, but the world has now installed 3TW of solar. Took 10 years to get from 100GW to 1TW. Less than 3 years to get to 2TW. Less than 2 years to get to 3TW. Analysts expect *9TW* by 2036.

The next phase of the boom may reveal a shift in who is gaining access to the technology.

We taught Miles how to ride a bike today. We also had to deal with an old man mad that we had them practicing in a school parking lot while he drove his monster truck. Once again, kids exist and have a right to take up space. Also, get rid of those damn monster trucks. None of you need that.
It is starting to look like many of the right wing Newspapers on the UK are backing off Nigel Farage. Far, far too late, the damage to the UK is already done and with your willing eager help.
We should never forget how the BBC has changed this country by giving endless airtime to Nigel Farage and other rightwing extremists, while shutting out progressive voices.
And why is #r4today giving (yet again) such prominence to a hair-brained scheme that has little chance to ever be implemented? A GE is unlikely soon and the threat of Reform winning it is apparently receding. What is the justification for legitimising it?
What if one of the best things about London was free? It is. Our museums and galleries welcome millions of people every year, proving that access to culture shouldn't depend on what's in your wallet. www.lbc.co.uk/article/lond...

Let's talk about mayors - a 🧵 Burnham wants to give mayors across the country substantially more powers, money and responsibility. He's looking to roll out "Greater Manchester Plus" (my phrase) across England within three years. That's very fast, and very good. It needs to be done. 1/X

“Cars are the most absurd means of transport in a city,” [says Jean-Louis Missika, Paris’s deputy mayor for urbanisation]. “They are parked 95% of the time. It takes two tonnes to move someone who weighs 70kg. And the denser the city, the more absurd it is.” www.ft.com/content/882e...

#NZpol In light of this title, I'd also recommend a wander through "The Commercialisation of New Zealand" by Brian Easton. And, this from by historian Tony Simpson - commenting on the result of the first real salvo of Free Market absolutists (cheers Roger 🤬). Unfortunately nothing's changed much.
I reread this 1998 book yesterday. We have never recovered from Rogernomics and Ruthanasia, but now we're getting another dose, with Māori bashing as an extra.

France calls out the U.S. at a UN meeting: “The US used to be a beacon of human rights. Not anymore. Today, it stands alongside North Korea, Nicaragua, Mali and Russia. Isolated. And the world no longer listens to it.” U.S. representatives stormed out of the meeting. Well said France! 👏🏼🇫🇷👏🏼

After 17 and a half years today is my last day working in the NHS. I've worked under 12 Health secretaries. Every single one made it harder for us to look after patients and pursued an agenda of privatisation and outsourcing. The NHS thrives in spite of, not because of it’s political leadership.

If a company proposes making stainless steel car be wary. Stainless steel is a daft choice for car bodies. It's expensive, hard to stamp, changes colour in welding & is difficult to paint or repair. Actual car designers know this. Stainless steel shows that the person in charge won't take advice.
Not gonna lie - I have the same reaction to seeing one of these vehicles drive by as I do when a stranger farts in a crowded elevator.
