Actually, my days would improve if AI disappeared tomorrow. No more looking at an image and wondering if it's real or fake -- or getting upset and disgusted with people I know for using AI, sharing obvious AI slop, etc.

Absolutely nothing about my days would change if AI disappeared tomorrow. I would have to click through on the search engines to actually read the definitions of the words I look up, I guess. But I should be doing more of that anyway.

Anyone else just think about how like the base level awareness one needs to have to not be scammed in your day to day life now is like absurd compared like 20 years ago, literally everything is trying to scam you at all times Not that scams weren't a thing but damn

If you have some space to plant something that pollinators like—even just a pot of flowers on your windowsill—it is really fun to watch the bees eventually find your plants and bring their friends. They’ll return every day! And you’ll help them find more plants around you.

Two Minnesota solar farms seeded native wildflowers under their panels, and 5 years of counting revealed native bees had multiplied twentyfold, then crossed the fence to pollinate the neighbour's soybeans

Kids need/deserve traumatic films. Films that show death or lasting consequences that aren't resolved almost instantly. Fear, anger, grief and frustration should be part of kids movies. Kids arent stupid, they feel big emotions just like adults, they deserve to see those experiences reflected back.

i know. different departments. Still, absolutely insane to me Microsoft has pumped 200 billion dollars into an algorithm that shits broken data and loses money everytime it is used, but looks at 52 artists and developers with decades of experience and thinks "i see no value here"

I don’t want this point to be lost in the discourse. Going digital-only means inequity for people who cannot afford internet or constantly purchasing new games. Libraries provide opportunities for people to experience games they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford, and that will be lost.

My child loves going to the library and checking out a new video game every week. Going digital only eliminates libraries as a way people can access games.

bro the whole point of consoles was the physical media, a cheaper entry point because publishers sell them at a loss, and the convenience of knowing "shit just works" now all three of those fucking things don't apply to sony meanwhile fucking pcs cost a second mortgage now
