Deeply sad to read of the passing of Wai Ching Ho, whom I had the tremendous honor to work with on my feature film ROBOT STORIES. A brilliant actor and an incredibly warm and wonderful person. Deepest, deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.

Cindy Cheung and Wai Ching Ho in a still from ROBOT STORIES. Sitting in the rain, gazing at each other in a moment of shared grief.

Trump approved disaster aid requests from six red states last week. Two days later, he rejected aid requests from four blue states. Not only is he punishing states who didn’t vote for him, he’s playing politics with people’s lives. Despicable.

Yesterday, I arrived in Taiwan—the first Senator to visit since Trump and Xi’s summit—to deliver a strong message: Regardless of who is in the White House, our commitment to Taiwan is steadfast. It's concrete. And it can save lives. My op-ed ⬇️

In an era of international relations where politics and policies seem to change by the hour, there are few truths that have proven self-evident for decades. But here's one: The sec......

Understand that "tested" also means genital inspections-like a strip search-for Black girls imagined as being too fast or strong. If you don't know the very obvious, there is research about the harms of strip searches done to youth for any reason & Black girls are more likely to experience them.

Guaranteed: 1) Black girls will be harassed and demanded to be tested over and over again regardless of how competitive they are. 2) Winners from public schools will be relentlessly hounded by the parents and coaches of losers at private schools, with the goal of making them quit the sport.

AOC: The Republican Party’s brand is fear. They constantly want Americans in fear of somebody because, if you are not afraid of someone who is your neighbor, you’re going to realize who’s actually pickpocketing you.

BTW, racist Americans have hated Haiti since 1791, because Haiti was the first successful revolution against enslavement. And I want to note how Justice Jackson included a detailed discussion of the Black Codes in her defense of Hawaiian historical sovereignty in another case today.

Kagan makes sure that Trump’s gutter racism — and the majority hand-waiving it away — gets into the record.

It's been over seven months now and they still haven't fully released the Epstein files as required by law because withholding exculpatory evidence is clearly what you do when you're "innocent."

Officials have banned reporters covering protests at Delaney Hall from wearing gas masks and carrying bags with other protective gear. These kinds of bans are dangerous and wrong. We spoke to journalists who told us why.

PPE bans not only risk reporters. They risk the public’s right to know

Once again: German universities were the envy of the world before the Nazis rose to power and took an ideological wrecking ball to the entire enterprise. If you want to know how long it took for German universities to recover… they haven’t.

It’s truly astonishing to see how comprehensively the US government is tearing down every part of the system that has made it up until now a world-leading power in science, research, and technological development. The entire world will suffer from this wanton destruction.

What I witnessed and experienced today was shameful. Delaney Hall is a failure; it’s this administration’s failure. The only way to make this right for our communities is to shut it down and make sure the failures we’ve seen never happen again. 4/4

This is more of the same lawlessness we’ve seen elsewhere around the country.

Our country deserves accountability. Our country deserves the humane treatment of every person here. In fact, our Constitution demands this. 3/4

Instead of engaging with me and others about the poor conditions, ICE sent in an armored vehicle and a line of armed agents that only poured gasoline on the fire. Civilians were tackled and restrained, and agents fired pepper balls and spray into the crowd. 2/4

I saw chaos inside and outside of the ICE detention center Delaney Hall today. Detainees protesting the lack of due process, the disgusting food and poor treatment while their families and advocates stood outside calling for help. 1/4
