I always feel weird trying to articulate my opinions in these discussions because I very much come from the early PC gaming scene where quicksaves are the default system which is as diametrically opposite as it gets. Though you could argue there's actually a lot in common between 1cc and no QC.

time is healing these wounds when it comes to looking back on these games, retrospectively, but i do think it's the right move to avoid incorporating continues as a default functionality if you're shooting to make a new "arcade design" game for home release

Escape from New York, the glider scene. It's '81, a year before Tron revolutionised CG and Carpenter has 1/3 of Tron's budget...so how did he pull off an absurdly sophisticated wireframe simulation?! It's actually a cardboard city painted matte black, lined with reflective tape and lit with UV.

Please ignore the MTL release of Meremanoid that came out today. We have had a hearty band at work (Chapu, Popi, Mr. Nobody, Misty, Shentok and I) working hard on an all-human patch. Fully playable in English, in it final editing pass now. Popi provided these screencaps today. More news later.

"why does bemont's curse not have contact damage" well for one enemies are 100x more aggro but more importantly THE ENTIRE FUCKING GAME REVOLVES AROUND GRAPPLING INTO ENEMIES AND YOU CANT EXACTLY DO THAT IF IT WOULD HURT YOU
