Went to a gym tonight for an Intro session. I've never been one for gyms, but I want better mobility and strength that cycling alone can't do for me. Among other things, I managed to do a 60 second wall supported hand stand. Felt so good. 💪

We are reminding residents to protect themselves from mosquito bites. Routine mosquito trapping and testing for West Nile Virus have confirmed a positive mosquito pool in Ottawa.

I'm already preparing, as a cyclist, to have to be incredibly more defensive as damn near every driver gets angry that their commute is taking longer, so then they start doing stupid things. Usually at the expense of everyone else outside of a vehicle.

Ottawa is so cooked on return to office. We spent an hour and 10 minutes in traffic for what’s a 12 minute drive outside of rush hour. Makes me sad that OC Transpo has gotten so much worse, and people are not being allowed to work from home more often. God help all of us in September.

"Make sure to make eye contact with drivers while you're biking." Crackdown on these illegal window tints then.

I feel like since the majority of drivers in vehicles on the roads are alone in their vehicles, they think that no one should be social while going from point A to point B. So seeing cyclists chatting while riding around will make them upset. And we all know we can't upset the precious drivers.

The NCC putting (ableit single direction) bike lanes onto Queen Elizabeth Drive and Colonel By is this! Express lanes! It makes so much sense, I just wish there was more of it.

I think it was maybe in Streetsblog, or somewhere else, but one person proposed this idea of having micro-mobility "express lanes" for faster vehicles. That sort of thing is possible when you stop prioritizing only auto traffic.

"Why close the road for bikes when there's a perfectly good pathway they can use?" Slow and crowded pathway vs. car-free open roadway.

Bikes can be expensive (my commuter is in the shop and needs full housing and shift cable replacement), but they're a hell of a lot cheaper than cars. And nicer. I love biking.

An Octranspo bus got stuck on our (closed for construction) street this evening. First two truck couldn't move it so they called in a bigger one. 2nd tow truck went to hook up, then noticed that they had a burst hydraulic line. Mechanic came to fix hydraulic line, but it's too far gone. 1/2

21 years ago today, Canada became the 4th country in the world, and 1st outside of Europe, to legalize same-sex marriage. The sky didn’t fall. Hell didn’t break loose. Only Canada’s capacity for love and acceptance increased. Now over 30+ countries have followed Canada’s lead.
