I love being bowled over by new-to-me discoveries, in this case Teju Cole's wonderful photo-and-word book Blind Spot. He has become, in the space of less than 100 pages, one of my favourite photographers.
A book that critically examines aspects of photography and that contains only a scattering of images (one per essay) is the work of someone more taken with their words and ideas than with images.

It's been interesting watching some of the debate around Christopher Nolan's new flick The Odyssey, especially the argument that the offspring of a mortal woman and a god disguised as a swan couldn't possibly have been black.
One employee was driving to work when the station went off air. He heard the recorded message saying it was over. That’s how he was informed he lost his job. Some found out when other media began reporting it. These employees deserved dignity and respect & Rogers chose not to provide that.

Working holidays, early mornings, evenings, overnight, weekends. 24/7 through the pandemic. Fire seasons, snowstorms & floods. Internal politics. For this? Disgraceful.

The last Liberal government bought a failing pipeline with our money. This one will build a new one with our money. You have no idea how betrayed I feel by Carney and the Liberal party.
A pipeline funded by…. you. This is a government pipeline with a mere 10% stake from private investment. And jobs? Last year 10k Albertan oil workers were laid off as production skyrocketed. Call it what it is — a handout for the dying fossil fuel industry.
