I work so slowly. I apologize to and am eternally grateful to all who support me despite this.
"what do students lose when they give up writing" THEY FUCKIN GIVE UP WRITING, MAN
"AI" has existed in its current form for barely four years and the fact that it's jammed up the cognitive development of an entire generation that fast (and that there's a specific overclass of techofascists who are deeply thrilled about this) is a big damn red flag. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/17/u...
I can't seem to decide what colonization is in Mangayaw; how it has affected the world, what it continues to do, what form it takes
Probably the solution is to just *combine* the interest in urban-fantasy mahou shoujo (plus plus) with late Spanish-colonial Philippines into a single TRPG.
Thank you for the shout out! 🙌
12. The Artificial Alchemist by @diceless.club A system-neutral OSR pointcrawl through the mansion of a Martian Vampire Count 🧛♂️ This one's got guns, raptors, Vampires, & a living machine! The whole thing makes great use of photobashed public domain art & is brisk enough to run in a single session
It's been such a privilege to write for Rascal, to write for you, and it would be really nice if I could do it next year as well. If you can sign up, please do. I would do so much better, the work world be so much better, if the site wasn't precious.

You can get my games at TWO conventions this weekend: at the IPR booth at Gen Con, and at our booth at ID-19 on the Indie Wavemakers space at TableCon Quest in Singapore!
7/18 The Monster Overhaul and many other fine games in Booth 449 at a convention in the Midwest.
Amazing time playing under @goobernuts.itch.io! Had a chance to try his WIP Mangayaw - Folk Hero Edition. And it is looking good. We delved into @munkao.bsky.social 's Deluge at Drizzle Distillery. Managed to free the CEO, find a legendary item, and had Rain God duke it out with [Redacted] God.
If you're at GenCon, you can get my games What Should We Have Tomorrow? (solo journaling game about cooking for your loved ones) and Ithaca in the Cards: Second Expedition (blackjack play-to-lose storygame inspired by The Odyssey) at the IPR booth!
Here's the list of 154 games from 92 publishers we're bringing to #Booth449 at #GenCon2026 www.indiepressrevolution.com/xcart/Gen-Co...
Just 🔸2 days🔸 left to snag this TTRPG bundle and help designer Rae Nedjadi pay down the expenses incurred by a long hospital stay. Over $285 worth of games for just 25 bucks, and 98% of your donation goes directly to Rae. Act now, the bundle vanishes on Aug 1st! www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/5...
i feel like im making the chassis to a game i dont know the look of yet
What's the deal with games needing monsters you can kill with no remorse? I keep seeing TTRPGs touting this in their marketing ... There was Obojima, a while back; now Deathbringer with its pig-faced orcs. I genuinely don't get this! What desire is being served here---and whose? 1/
Doing cons for the next two weekends. This weekend: Table Con Quest in Singapore, my only con in SG this year. Friends in SG, please come say hi! Next weekend: Klzineetc in Kuala Lumpur!
I recently read a whole book about Philippine ethnoastronomy (the sky, sun, moon, stars, etc in the imagination of different ethnolinguistic groups in the archipelago) to work on something for Mangayaw
People writing books and/or RPG adventures, what’s the nerdiest, most pointless bit of research you’ve done in the name of worldbuilding that you very probably didn’t need to do & no one else cared about? I just found my old notes with all the phases of the moon & tides in Northern England in 1566
Designing games is easy, finishing and releasing is impossible, no one has ever done it before

With all the Odyssey talk going on, my take is I don't want folklore/myth movies "if they were real" I want more surreal myth movies. I want The Fall, The Green Knight, Pan's Labyrinth, Mirrormask. I want movies where weird dream shit be happening and the world feels eerie and unhinged.
Breathless started as scrambles like "d12>d10>d8>d6>d4>.... consequence?" on a notebook my wife bought me for christmas in 2021 now, it powers 300+ hacks with half of them published in japanese. whatever works! (its free btw farirpgs.com/breathless/ )

Working (“working”) on a small personal TTRPG thing, the first thing I’ve worked on in literal months. My life hack? No word doc. Open up a Note on my iPad, start working there. Feels less intimidating, less need for me to work cleanly, less pressuring. Whatever works, right? Taking it slow 😮💨
Public Domain Art is the lifeblood of small tabletop rpgs, but it can be a nightmare trying to find the right art and license. This week, I’ve re-uploaded my old list from 2020 (with updates) of public domain websites. That's 500,000+ public domain paintings, photos, maps, and film. Link below 🔗👇
