To all artists around the world. Don't forget the OC you created when you were 12! Remake them! Give them a modern update! That character is practically your firstborn. So dig up that fossil and polish it.

The current era of transfeminine sword & sorcery began in Issue 2 of @newedgeswordmag.bsky.social in 2023, with the publication of “How Many Deaths Till Vengeance?” While not the first of my kind in this space (see Jessica Amanda Salmonson), I’ve paved the way for all those after me. Read it below:

Chewing my arm off, bloody foam speckling my lips, screaming. Just screaming, forever.
I'm not saying it doesn't HAPPEN, but "all weird indie TTRPGs are a kink thing" is reductive. There is also "designing RPGs to publish your worldbuilding bible", "designing RPGs because you invented a neat dice trick", "designing RPGs to win an argument", and "designing RPGs as an act of self harm".
I've played two sessions of Traveler so far and have been rather enjoying it. My character, Primavalia "Bunny" Buonarotti, flunked out of space college and fell back on being a noble dilettante. She has +3 to carouse and little else, but owns our crew's yacht and more money than the others combined.
I keep wondering what I'm missing with Pillars of Eternity. People seem to have amazing experiences w it, but after three tries, I just cannot get into it. The main quest isn't compelling, my story choices never feel significant, and combat and progression are too janky to hook me on their own.
I'm not saying this place or any other is vital to your success as a designer but i think its a mistake to pretend like social connection and social clout and the sort of networking we do here is valueless in terms of sales or reach. Much of my success stems from fucking around online
Probably the solution is to just *combine* the interest in urban-fantasy mahou shoujo (plus plus) with late Spanish-colonial Philippines into a single TRPG.
"Cut your prep time down to 1-2 hours per session" I sure would love to cut my prep time down to twice what I spend prepping for NSR games! Stop playing games that hate GMs.
been catching up on reading lately, so this seems timely!
1 like = 1 book question 📚💙
This book provides a decent overview of women's occupations in the titular milieu, substantiating this with various historical records. It's an easy, well-organized read, though the prose is rather awkward. Indulges in some editorializing toward the end, but nothing egregious.
The Chain Story Project has just released a new story by Luana Saitta, Why Crimson Cora Hates Wizards. You will love it. Please read, enjoy, like and share. (Sharing makes it possible for us to bring you free fiction!) And thank you. www.chainstorycore.com/blog/why-crimson-cora-hates-wizards
Why Crimson Cora Hates Wizards — The Chain Story
Everyone fears Crimson Cora, save her captor, who is eagerly awaiting her death—for her to be nibbled to pieces by foul denizens of the sea. This is a delightful tale by Luana Saitta which you shall t...

A close look at a printing press to examine the intellectual life Spanish colonial Philippines sounded like something right up my alley. Unfortunately, this book is little more than a list of titles, authors and editors, with no serious attempt to connect it with the time's intellectual movement.
Ran The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh in Shadowdark again. There's got to be some way to lure players toward the charlatan instead of having them run away from them. Anyway, I forgot to mention luck tokens till later and wound up with a TPK. Gitz the goblin henchman reprised its role.
Got to run Conan 2d20 again over the weekend. It was my second time running The Pit of Kutallu, but cleaving closer to the original adventure this time. Scenario's still thin on logic, but genre-compliant enough to get a pass. Players had some brilliant uses for their Fortune Dice...
are young people today aware that there was an active effort 20-25 years ago to stop depicting smoking as cool and glamorous because people got tired of watching their loved ones die of cancer and heart disease from something preventable? seems like classic history repeating itself stuff
I genuinely hate the push to make smoking a thing again. I have watched so many drawn out, ugly, painful deaths from smoking. It makes everything disgusting. It enslaves us to the worst kinds of corporations. There’s ZERO positive here.
Public Domain Art is the lifeblood of small tabletop rpgs, but it can be a nightmare trying to find the right art and license. This week, I’ve re-uploaded my old list from 2020 (with updates) of public domain websites. That's 500,000+ public domain paintings, photos, maps, and film. Link below 🔗👇
Got to run another game of Best Left Buried yesterday! Mostly people new-ish to OSR-style play (broadly speaking), but some whom I'd run Shadowdark for. Reception was positive across the board--one even wants to grab a copy of the game now mehehe
NEW: A special TTRPG charity bundle to help designer Rae Nedjadi offset their medical expenses after serious illness and a month-long hospital stay. Includes Apocalypse Keys plus a terrific selection of other games. Get over $285 in games for just 25 bucks! 👇 www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/5...

booked a tabletop gaming venue for my bday and played - Love Letter - Dixit - Magical Athlete - Poetry for Neanderthals - Maid the RPG - MtG (Commander) not a bad way to commemorate the inexorable progress of time ^-^
This would not have been possible thanks to a wonderful community that has supported independent RPGs and endorsing something that is thematically off the beaten path! Thank you for your endorsement and your trust!

back in the day, if I brought up Maid: the RPG, people would look at me askance in the past couple of years, I've offered to run it thrice and each time found several people eager to play I wonder what's changed in the circumstances
