Yesterday I reviewed this and realized: out of those 82 km less than 10 were on roads shared with cars. That’s pretty great, actually. And that fits the whole “what’s better now than before” thing going around here today. Just the fact that I can cross the 400 at Finch is a huge improvement.

In Toronto: The bike lanes are a 1,000x safer and more numerous. New indie bookstores are opening. I saw a busker so good I almost burst into tears. There's a subway operator whose whole mission is to say kind and helpful things. People ask for and use pronouns like it's always been that way.

Reading got me through a difficult childhood with alcoholic parents, dramatic teenage years and a pandemic. It's getting me through whatever this thing that is happening now is, and I highly recommend it.

I don't know - many adults I knew as kids had the additional rule of "You can have a sleepover if everyone's getting hammered." I'm all for questioning this stuff. Send out the invites and go for it. Why not? Why let adult autonomy stop at "Cake for breakfast"?

Recently had to explain to a professional from outside Toronto, that the vast majority of downtown Toronto workers commute by bike, walking, or transit. Some drive, but they are the minority. Perhaps I should show them these bike share stations…

Alright, a little bit of a nautical Toronto mystery. This cairn lies in a channel by Snug Island in Toronto islands, I've seen it many times but have no info on it. Today someone told me it a remnant of "centre island pier". But AFAIK this was never a structure that existed. #TOhistory #paddleTO
