On this date in 1911, aviators Charles Willard and John McCurdy completed an air race from Hamilton to Toronto. Both pilots ran into fog. Willard was forced to land near the CNE grounds, while McCurdy won the race and landed on a sand spit at Fisherman’s Island.

When I went to the lake this evening, I hoped I might spot another firefly. No luck, but it was a lovely view once again, though I paid for it in mosquito bites. The passing cars at the top of the hill bleed light across the trees, making it tricky to capture the stunning red of the rising moon.
Motel no more. Abandoned on HWY 69, this motel has been decaying for as long as I can remember (20+ years). Its slowly being consumed by the inevitabilities of time. Sooner than later the HWY 400 twinning will either bypass or knock down this abandoned gem. #abandoned #decay #oldsign
